Holiday Inn Express Walsall M6J10, an IHG Hotel

very convenient to visit my family, good value and helpful staff

The room was fine, exactly what we expected and had everything we needed. Weirdly soundproof from the outside as the motorway was next to us, but not as soundproof from the inside as you could hear the kids in the room above us running around constantly - something to think about if you’re a light sleeper. Location was perfect, right on the motorway junction, made everything accessible and there was another hotel close by with a great bar for sports. Breakfast was “included” but it’s probably one of the worst breakfast experiences I’ve had at any hotel. Firstly there was literally not 1 seat available when we turned up, then when we eventually got seated, the food felt like it had been out all morning. Bland and rubbery. Realistically they need some sort of timetable, where people book a time for breakfast using their room numbers. You can’t have a breakfast area that is a free for all and doesn’t cater for the size of the hotel. This would also make it easier to plan the amount of food needed at certain times so the quality can be a little better.

Stay several times per year while visiting family. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Only negative on the last two visits is the lack of heating in the dining and bar area

Great parking area, staff were very friendly and helpful, we asked to warm milk up for the kids but due to health and safety they couldn’t microwave it so they gave us boiling water instead. The mattress and pillow were slightly uncomfortable but that’s probably because we have a Sumba at home… only down point really was the breakfast, not much of an option for vegetarians, they could have hash browns but other then that it was fine, expected options for a HIE. Overall we enjoyed our stay :)

Hotel was spotless and modern but shame about the clients. We stayed on the 2nd floor as a family but for 2.5 hrs we had constant banging of doors, knocking of doors, loud chatting and laughing and rudeness. Even after constant reminders for our corridor neighbours to be quiet, they still continued. The entire floor seemed to be booked out to one group who were hitting the town at 11.30pm. We ended up moving rooms at midnight because it was so bad. Not what we needed after attending a funeral that day. When I went to get the new room key, I walked through the ground floor. Well that was the same as it was a wedding party with the bride in her wedding dress continuing her celebrations in the corridor with drinks & guests. Thankfully it was quieter on the 3rd level to sleep from 12.30am but still had neighbours banging about. Never had this trouble with another hotel chain. As for breakfast, scantily clad/ pj wearing woman where sat at tables were they left an awful mess for the staff to tidy away was appalling. This hotel deserves better because it was spotless and customer service was first class. We were worried about the major roadworks outside our window but we didn’t hear them, it was the clientele that made our stay horendous!

We checked in just before 12am, when i rang the hotel to let them know about the late check in they kindly put a note for whoever was in that evening. The room was perfect for us as a family of 4. The only downside was the noise at 6am from work being carried out which couldn't be helped as it had nothing to do with the hotel. Breakfast was very good and filling with a lot of options even fornour young children. Staff in the evening and morning were very good with smiles all around also the room service staff aknowledged us with smiles too making the stay even more enjoyable as one smile can make the world of difference to tired weary travellers. Overall a very nice stay and we would definitely come back to this hotel if we were to stay in Birmingham again. 10/10 from the Asghar family.

Good stay was as expected from holiday inn nice full English breakfast very busy place rooms clean stayed here before room 325 family room,kids enjoyed it 1 night stay after visiting friends in Dudley so ideally local to area and motorway easy access back to london.large car park area freindly reception staff.only place to eat locally is the KFC.need a car to travel around overall good experience.

Unfortunately our family room overlooked work on the motorway which went on throughout the night. At breakfast although we attended early, there were items that had run out eg croissants. The breakfast staff were not very helpful but check in staff were very helpful
