Really happy with our stay in the Ground Floor Flat. Layout gives space and privacy for an extended family, especially when connected to adjoining room. Very happy with the price paid on a 'cost per person' basis. Everything seemed newly refurbished and, while fittings were not luxury, everything was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and location was very convenient for what we needed - ideally between the railway station and cricket ground - albeit not the most picturesque part of the town.

The space is amazing. Loads of room in ground floor flat. Plenty of space for 2 couples or family of five. Could do so much more with the space though, en-suite for example or wardrobe in the master bedroom. Issue was comfort. Both sofas really uncomfy. Beds, especially the double we’re liking sleeping on barn doors. Rock hard! Dining room table with 3 chairs when it sleeps 5. Then little things. Wonky table in the front room, skylight in the bedroom with a blind that does not cover the window directly above your head. No wardrobe in main room, fridge door catches floor and need attention to close. So close to being really good.

You can't teach the kind of customer service the Royal Ashton has. They say they feel like a family and it certainly felt that way in all the best possible ways. Nothing was too much trouble for them; my room was basic and a good price — which were my main criteria, given that cleanliness should be a given — and it was! The smiles were genuine and were backed by their efforts to help me when I lost my charging cable lost my hat. I won't forget them. Thank you Royal Ashton. I'll be back.

The hotel receptionist was really nice and very helpful. She swapped our rooms for us and made us very welcome. We had a family apartment with 2 bedrooms, a lounge and a kitchenette. It felt a bit unloved, like it wasn’t used very often.

Firstly this was not an arranged stay as stranded due to trains. I thought as the name sounded quite regal and over £100 a night this hotel was a decent stay.....i was mistaken. The staff were amazing and very accommodating but i need to emphasize the room we had was not the same standard as some rooms i had seen on going into the hotel. We had a family room consisting of a double and single bed. The family room only had 1 mini sofa and the room was large but i had to sit on the bed as kids only fit on the small ikea sofa. The childrens wardrobe Ikea again would be too smal for a longer stay. The room on the 2nd floor which had no lift, my fault for not checking but only saw this after the booking otherwise i would not of stayed, it was also at the front on the main road which was very noisy and i could not open the window due to more noise. The hotel is old and has creaky floorboards so we were all woken at 1 am by the occupant above moving around. The fridge in the room made noises too. The room was run down and dated. All white seemed too clinical, wires of extensions leads everywhere, 1 which was around the bathroom door was hanging. The carpet was worn and the single bed was missing 2 wheels so was angled. The bathroom smelt of Urine, toilet roll holder loose, the shower holder was broken so you had to hold the shower to shower which was hard with children. No breakfast included in the price so this was very expensive and not worth the money.
