The Pines Hotel

Very pleasant hotel, easy to find, and with beautiful views over the bay. Our family room was large and well appointed, and the breakfast was good also. The staff were without exception friendly, helpful and efficient.

This hotel has a stunning location looking over the sea with steps to the beach. We booked a family room, satisfactory with a very uncomfortable bed and really dirty shower screen. Breakfast was okay, lovely staff at breakfast. We were charged £15 for the dog which I wish we’d have known beforehand. My search criteria included a dog so I presumed the quoted price included the dog. Whilst my husband was putting the bags in the car I sat in the lounge with my son and dog and a very rude man from the bar area shouted at me that dogs were not allowed in the area. Dogs were not allowed in the breakfast area either so we felt pretty constrained to our room to be honest & unable to fully relax. £180 for one night with a mediocre breakfast and a very unfriendly rude member of staff was not worth it in my opinion

Didn’t sleep particularly well the room next to us had a family with small children who were normal noisy children unfortunately there’s not much soundproofing and the bedroom floors and hallway/stairs are all very creaky so anyone moving around late or early morning we could hear them. Lovely views from the room and the one evening meal we had was very tasty although portions in the small side. Good breakfast choice. All the staff we interacted were lovely. Good base for the area.

The communal areas of the hotel both indoors and outdoors were all very good and the food exceptional. The location was ideal. My room however was very small and cramped. Just because rooms are single, people do need space and should not be made to feel like they are stuffed into a small space that should really be used as a storage facility.The single bed was so small that it was difficult to sleep in. It was really for a child. I am only 5'5" tall and a size 8-10 weighing eight stone, so only a petite woman. The duvet hardly covered the sides so I was sleeping with my legs hanging off at the sides for more room. I also had very disturbed sleep because I could near everything going on from the room above me very loudly, it was like there was a family of elephants up there. Thumping and creaking and bashing as well as voices. This was by far the noisiest room I have ever experienced in a hotel from above. I do expect better for £100 per night. Management of hotels need to realise that just because someone is on there own it does not mean to say that they are only half a couple and that everything in the room has to be half the size that it would be for a couple. or they need to realise that they should charge a lot less. I am only small but I think that if a 6' man weighing 16 stone was in this room they would struggle severely.

Perfect place for a family vacation! Refined, exquisite views, comfortable lounge for enjoying tea, dessert, and drinks.

We only stayed with 2 kids for one night and had a wonderful time. Location is great, with stairs down to the sandy beach. Staff was super friendly. I wish we could have stayed longer.
