Holiday Inn Express Hemel Hempstead, an IHG Hotel

Hotel was fine for our needs as a family of 4. Rooms were basic but clean and had everything we needed, apart from a bath which would have been good for our 2 year who is terrified of the shower but it was no big deal and in fairness, I didn’t request one. Friendly and helpful staff and no issues getting a parking space or table for breakfast - helpful sign in the lift telling you the busiest times.

Staff were brilliant. Helen was very informative. All the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately the sofa bed wasnt comfortable for the kids but an extra duvet helpped to cushion it. Good selection of buffet for breakfast which was kept well stocked. Staff were amazing with our daughters especially as one was her birthday. Close to the warner brothers tour london and worth a visit.

Good value for the money included breakfast Great base if visiting the Harry Potter studios. Great rooms for families

Really impressed by this hotel as I wasn't expecting much for the price paid. Fairly new build. Lovely layout for the bathroom. Bit cramped in the family room but as we only used it to sleep and grab a quick bite for breakfast - it was perfect.

We stayed for 2 nights (2 adults. 2 kids 10/12), room was comfortable but think next time we will require two rooms due to space. Room had everything needed including iron, kettle, hairdryer etc. No issues other than space but we weren’t in the room other than too sleep so not a biggy. Love the location, close to station to go into London with train line being across the road. Station not suitable for wheelchair users as no lift. Will book again in future as close to travel to see Harry Potter. Staff attentive and friendly. Breakfast has a good selection, and is replenished well. Overall we had a lovely time.

The receptionist is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was plentiful and had many options, family atmosphere and clean room. We love staying at this hotel. 🙂

Initially asked for payment upon arrival - room was pre-paid. Booked family room for 4 (2 adults, 2 children) to go to room to find only double bed (sofa bed not made up). Had to call reception from mobile as phone in room wasn't working. No additional towels left when room was made up for 4 eventually. When returning in the evening, room key didn't work so had to return to reception to get it reprogrammed. No signal on telly - was sorted by HIE team and we were advised this happens regularly when housekeeping knock the cable and loosen connection. Facilities basic but sufficient.

We couldn't believe how small the family room was, there was no room to walk around the bed. There was only 5 coat-hangers in a small exposed area for 3 of us to hang clothes for a 2-day visit. I phoned reception for restaurant details and was advised that the hotel was only serving pizza as it is out of season, so the normal menu was not available. I am dairy and wheat free, so I was unable to eat anything at the hotel and headed to a pub over the road, where the menu was not very extensive. I asked reception if there was a larger room, I would have been happy to pay extra. I was told that all the rooms were the same, I was also advised that they were not sure if any extras would be added to the menu the following day. I asked for a refund as the hotel really didn't suit our needs and booked into the nearest Premier Inn, which was brilliant with far more space and hanging of clothes area. The staff at the Holiday Inn were helpful when I requested a refund and totally understood our reasons
