The hotel was in a quiet area which is what we wanted for a family holiday. The room was spacious and had good facilities. The buffet breakfast had a great choice for picky eaters! What I will say is check the pool opening times for the year, we didn’t and arrived to a closed pool, dealing with child mental breakdowns at this info was not fun. We paid extra for this hotel due to having what looked like a great pool, we just couldn’t get in it!! I was also expecting some kind of child entertaining area, I didn’t see anything, maybe I missed this? We did have to travel everywhere on the metro which is what we were prepared to do, but if you don’t want to do this I would recommend a hotel closer to which ever attractions you want to visit. There are a great selection of restaurants close to the hotel which we sampled. We also ate in the hotel restaurant one evening, the food was good, but again possibly not set up for children.

Loved that the Level was always available for my family to grab snacks throughout the day. The front desk is amazing and always say ‘yes’ if you need something. Spirit of hospitality is strong at the hotel!!! I was in Madrid for a large conference and worked with 20 hotels as I managed the room block. By far, the team at Melia was the easiest to work with and rolled with the changes throughout the event. Highly recommend if you want a stay where you feel like a VIP 24-7. Thank you Melia team!!!!!

Amazing! We had the best time. The staff were so friendly and helpful and genuinely made our stay a joy. I wish I traveled to Madrid more often just so I could stay here every time. I'm not even kidding. The room was tidy and very comfortable (especially the pillows), and the breakfast was delicious.

Great place for our first stop in Spain! The conjoined family room was quite sizable and well-appointed. The concierges were all super helpful in organizing bespoke tours and outings for us. We would definitely stay here again!

This Meliá hotel offers a high level experience. Big lobby with multiple restaurant options where you can enjoy a nice dinner or a good drink. Breakfast is spectacular and the staff is very friendly. Rooms are not huge but big enough (we were 4 including two kids so they put us in two connecting rooms). The pool is big and the pool area is nice (although you need to know the pool opens at 12 noon - which can be challenging if you have kids- and closes at 8 pm). Location is Ok, it is not located close to main attractions but you have a metro station that is within walking distance - 2 long blocks. Around the hotel you will find multiple restaurants - from top level to cheaper (and nice) options. In general, the hotel is really nice- Meliá never disappoints- if you are ok staying in this part of town and if the budget is good for you. Consider it as an option also for kids although it is important you remember the pool information mentioned above as well as the walking instance to metro. I will consider this hotel for the future.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived on a weekend early and they were able to accommodate us for early check-in. The rooms (having been upgraded in recent years) were clean, quiet, and the beds were firm. The hotel itself is still undergoing some renovation but is nice and well-appointed without being ostentatious (we're not expecting nor would we need a Four Season type environment). The neighborhood is wonderful - lots of good local restaurants at decent prices and excellent food. Lots of supermarkets (including a 24/7 Carrefour, Aldi, and other choices) nearby if you forgot to pack something, or need to pick up simple groceries. Would recommend for both business and families.

Top rate service from all personnel. The mattresses could be a little softer. The green restaurant dining room desperately needs refurbishing as the chairs are old and upholstery is fraying or very worn and looks dirty although it is just age and actually not dirt, just looks that way. Same with the carpeting. Spent two days rewashing our shirts to try and get rid of the cheap chemical fragance that comes from the fabric softener they use in the hotel laundry which is sticky sweet and very chemical smelling. All international class hotels should know by now to only use fragrance free detergents and no fabric softener. Otherwise we loved our stay. The rooms were always very clean and the staff throughout could not be kinder and more helpful and professional. We also felt very safe in this hotel in this at all times. We have a special needs child and felt comfortable in allowing her to go alone from our room to meet us in the restaurant or lobby. In the past, we were robbed in a five star hotel in Madrid but felt this would not happen at Melia Castlla which is why we have returned many times even though it is slightly out of the way. The public lobby is beautiful if slightly dated, but again, all the chairs and sofa's desperately need re-uphostering. I didn't like sitting on them as they are so old and blackened and threadbare in spots from use. A hotel of this caliber and with many important and fine antiquities on display, should not skimp on such important details.

The hotel has an excellent breakfast buffet which is normally included in the price, which for Spain breakfast at 5 star hotels is very expensive. The location is very good, although it is not in the city center, but just maybe 5 to 10 minutes in taxi. Very good price for a family of 4.
