The location is excellent. Our 1 bedroom suite was spacious enough but had dated bergundy carpet and dilapidated fixtures. The carpet smelled and we had to open the sliders to air it out. The kids enjoyed the pool. The breakfast is incredible, with many choices. If the room was updated this would be 5 stars.

We really enjoyed our stay at Vila Gale. Was family friendly and the pool was a nice amenity after a hot day of touring. We had plenty of room for our family and the sea view and balcony were ideal. Walkable to shops and restaurants especially at the marina.

We had an absolutely lovely time, the hotel is situated perfectly near the ocean (our room had an incredible ocean view), walking distance from the marina, the city center (with plenty of restaurants, pharmacies, shops and bars) and tourist attractions nearby. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and generous- especially with my children. The kid's entertainers were amazing and my daughter straight away joined in on the fun. The swimming pools were clean and a perfect temperature. Importantly for me, the hotel capacity was perfect for that "not too jam packed" feel. There was plenty of room for all, we always found a spot by the pool for instance. The breakfast buffet was also very nice, my one request would be to please offer oat milk in future - I'm lactose intolerant and can't stand soy milk but it was the only alternative to cow's milk. Otherwise an excellent stay and we cant wait to return.

We stayed here for 9 nights April 2024. Perfect location, walkable to many fun places nice restaurants, lots of attractions and even good 15-20 mins walk to downtown Cascais. Hotel itself was very clean, buffet breakfast was amazing, lots of options and best part was the very helpful staff. We stayed with our kids and they loved the Easter activities. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Vila Gale is a tired hotel. I got “upgraded” to a junior suite, with a dark (mouldy smelling) bedroom and hallway - and a sitting area with sofas so filthy, none of us wanted to sit in them. Curtains and doors were in great need of cleaning also. Bedding was synthetic, and the pillows probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. But the most horrendous was the plastic mattress protector, which meant the bedsheet slid off, and sleeping on plastic is very unpleasant - your body cannot breathe, and the crackling noise with every movement was unsettling. Most unpleasant! However, the staff was friendly and helpful, the pool area was decent, and the breakfast buffet OK (though lukewarm water makes it difficult for teabags to dissolve properly). The hotel is conveniently located close to the excellent restaurants in the marina, and a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre, and does have lovely views from its seafacing balconies. But at that price one should have clean rooms and a decent bed with non-synthetic linen. I won’t recommend Vila Gale.

Staff are hotel’s greatest asset. Breakfast selection is excellent. Coffee is either stewed filter or from a Nescafé machine-not good enough. Bar serves a delicious white wine. Lunch menu is healthy and more-ish! You do need to use a QR code! Rooms are ok but bathrooms need more toiletries. Beds are comfy. Reception needs better organisation and more staff at peak check in, check out times. Staff were very helpful and looked after my wheelchair! It’s a good hotel and the pools are fine. When we were there the children were fairly quiet (!) Beach towels are well organised. Hotel is in walking distance of the Marina and the town.

The good: Great location with sea views, a 10 minute walk from the centre of Cascais with a new Marina shopping and entertainment area just 2 minutes walk across the street. The location is stunning and really convenient. The room was a very good size with a balcony looking out onto the ocean. Could be better: Breakfast options were okay but a little limited, something they could easily remedy by adding a bit more variety. Likewise room service options (essential when you have a baby and need to stay in evenings) , could be better but not the end of the world as you can use food delivery apps or get something from the marina (2 mins away ) or town (10 mins away) on foot. Not enough easily accessible plugs or lighting in rooms! Cleaning was not always the best at times- nothing major but the staff seem too busy and sometimes miss something like emptying the bins. Otherwise we’ll cleaned. All in all an excellent location and definitely worth considering despite the ‘could be betters’ , which don’t really detract from what is a great location.

This is a good hotel. It’s conveniently located and has some really great kids amenities like a kids pool with water slide, play ground and kid friendly breakfast buffet. Overall though the hotel is really dated. The sheets and bed are in major need of an upgrade. A hotel in this location charging these prices really should have a better mattress, sheets and towels. The couch in the room is also really uncomfortable. Otherwise service is great and we enjoyed ourselves.

The location of the hotel is great and the people are very friendly and helpful. The only issue is that regardless of whether your room is ready or not you cannot check in before 3 pm. There is no flexibility on this. The breakfast is fine, not fancy but a good range of dishes. The furnishings in the rooms are a little dated and the kitchenettes are straight from the 70's with no microwave. The most important thing is that this is a family hotel. There are tons of kids running around and having fun. If you don't want kids around don't stay here. Other than that the pool is gorgeous and the views breathtaking.

A great place to stay for families. The kids loved their stay with access to the beach and the pool. Day trips to Sintra and Lisbon are easily doable. Good and wine selection were great.
