Overview

Palácio Estoril Hotel, Golf & Wellness is a beautiful, traditional hotel offering old-school luxury. While some reviews mention it may not be ideal for families with very young children due to the age of the hotel and potential noise levels around the pool, many families with older children and teenagers have had wonderful experiences. The hotel boasts a lovely outdoor pool area (though weather dependent), excellent service, and a great breakfast with waiter service. The hotel's location is also convenient for exploring the surrounding area and its restaurants.

Wonderful traditional hotel, beautifully decorated with historic relics and pictures of important people. The service is outstanding without being snobby. The outdoor pool area is very nice, the windy days made a little difficult to fully enjoy this amenity. My family and I look forward to staying in this property again in a future visit to estori..

It is an old hotel living off its reputation from the 1940s. The carpet hasn’t been change since Salazar was alive. One rug in the first room that I stayed in had an ancient poo on the carpets. The outdoor pool was freezing. If you have kids, they can’t use the heats indoor pool. Avoid. Even the staff described the place as a circus and uncaring for the guests.

Our trip was with our 2 'children' aged 17 and 20 in July 2007. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the service was excellent. There wasn't anything that was too much trouble. The staff were superb and especially the 'doorman' who had been employed by the hotel for 56 years! He was an absolute gentleman. Breakfast was buffet + waiter service so the best of both worlds - but sometimes 1 egg was delivered as 2!! Great variety. Lunch around the pool offered a good choice of food and you could have full waiter service just above the pool if required. The hotel was well placed for a variety of other restaurants/bars/shops and the beach was a short walk. The railway station was just before the beach and the trains were immaculate and very efficient - every 20 minutes to Lisbon and 4 euros return - last train at 1.30 in the morning. Cascais is also a short train ride or a 15 minute walk along the seafront and has an excellent varitey of shops/bars and restaurants. It was nice to be in a place where the predominant travellers were NOT english. Thoroughly recommend this area and the hotel. We thought it might be a bit 'austere' but we were very pleasantly surprised. The 5 star treatment was very appreciated - bathrobes, slippers, turndown service with choccies and the Molton Brown toiletries all made for a relaxing break.

I would recommend staying here if you like old-school luxury. I'm more into modern decor and laid-back luxury, but if you like feeling required to dress up for dinner, this is your place. There were a lot of families here in August, which surprised me and made it less quiet around the pool than I would have hoped for. There aren't many options in the area for eating other than at the hotel, but the bakery/cafe "Pastilleria Garrett" was fantastic, as was "Tertulia do Monte", a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
