Scandic Byporten

We had stayed at another Scandic across the street 3 days prior and it was wonderful. For starters the room was ridiculously tiny for 4 people and it was impossible to open up my large suitcase with the kids’ beds open. They Murphy bunk beds (that come out of the wall) which seemed cool until my kids were sleeping in them and they rolled over to the side of the wall and it began to close on them! Luckily their instincts kicked in and they woke up startled but rolled back over. From then on my 210lb, 6’2 husband slept on the bottom which prevented the bed from closing on my son. We were only there for one night so we didn’t want to be bothered to change rooms at 1am and just dealt with it. Lastly when we checked in and asked about parking, the receptionist told me that i could pay a lesser fee if we paid at a different kiosk inside the hotel. She forgot to mention that we were to pay at the time of parking rather than when we would leave. So we had to pay the full price. Norway is extremely expensive!! Any discount help so this made me furious. Needless to say, I would not stay here again.

Staff were so helpful, welcoming and informative. She went above and beyond to help us to feel at home. Size of the room was very good. They set the sofa bed within few min after our arrival. We have kids and it was great to find a guest laundry self service here. Definitely will recommend to family and friends. Zaid

Location was great, especially when having an early morning train to catch. Breakfast was excellent! Family room was a bit tight for a family of 4 though, but workable.

The family room is tiny and the furniture has seen better days. We were not informed that we needed to register for the parking discount as we checked in so the parking for one night was half the price of the room itself. As we had booked through hotels.com the hotel couldn't help us when I complained. We will not be coming back.

It is very safe, clean, staff are friendly, very accessible to shopping and right in the center of everything. Highly recommended! Great with family and small children.

We had a great stay. The location of the hotel was excellent. Being right next to train station worked out really well as we were traveling with two small kids. The staff at the hotel were very friendly. We loved our stay.

Check-in was very slow, with very little staff available. Many customers were unhappy as rooms were not ready (at 3pm). Our room was ready to check in, but the children's beds were not put down, this was ok as the staff said this would be done before 5pm. yet this was not done until 9pm!

Excellent location next to Oslo main train station. Friendly efficient staff at the front desk. Our family room was small but well equipped for our family of 4. The decor was a bit worn in place - a few holes in the wall I guess where the child bunk bed had been folded in wrongly somehow, but it was clean and fine really. Given the location and price, I'd recommend the hotel to others.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Great location to walk every where we wanted to go. Having the shopping mall and small grocery store near by was perfect with 3 little ones
