Charming place to stay. Staff were really helpful and great banter. Sauna was sooooo good! Accomodation was warm and comfy. The covers on the beds also used as couches was a genius idea and the kids loved their beds. Would prefer a little expansion on the breakfast menu, but other than that, would highly recommend staying here.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved the vege garden area, so serene and lovely view. Location was great, in between Frankton and Queenstown with bus stop not far away. Just a few little luxuries we would have liked. The choice to have a tv in the Family Apartment for those days when wet and ended up staying in. A microwave to heat up food. A lamp in the spare room of the family apartment instead of having to turn light off in the other bedroom. Maybe mirror in bedroom. Parking was abit random for guests staying, first in first served but hard when there’s someone with a disability and you have to park further away. Other than that, we really enjoyed it.

This is a converted motel and not a hotel. The ECO ethos while commendable means that the rooms are very basic and dated, there are no TVs or microwaves in the room. If you are downstairs off the car park you need to keep your thick curtains to have any privacy which makes the room very dark and feels like you’re in the body of a boat. Also check there’s no music event on during your stay, the whole room shook with bass during 90 minute rehearsal in the afternoon and then the concert finished at 9.30 so no chance of getting young kids to sleep.

Sherwood Queenstown is a unique accommodation option. What was once a 1980s-style hotel has now received a modernised 'eco-friendly' treatment. Keep this in mind if you feel amenities need updating to reflect modern times (and read the guest booklet, which fully explains Sherwood's ethos). We appreciate Sherwood's approach to recycling, composting and using materials that are either locally sourced or designed to minimise its footprint on the globe. The staff are helpful. Sherwood is perhaps most suitable for couples and families with children over the age of 10. It is especially convenient and suitable for families who already have a level of 'disconnectedness' with the digital world. There are no televisions in the rooms, so if you're the sort of family who enjoys cuddling up on the couch after a long day of exploring, you'll need to be prepared to also huddle around a tablet or smartphone if you're staying at Sherwood. There is limited parking on-site, certainly not enough for the guests staying. It's offered on a 'first come, first serve' basis. This can be tricky, as there is also a restaurant open to the public at Sherwood. We enjoyed the stunning views of the lake and the convenience of Sherwood's location.

Check in was 3pm - after a long day travelling with two young kids we arrived and told our room wasn’t ready & wouldn’t be ready for another hour - because they were short staffed. I feel that if hotels etc can’t staff to full capacity etc then don’t sell all rooms. Didn’t realise there was no TV’s in the room - but this was not a problem as they supply devices if needed (we weren’t really hanging around the room to watch tv in all honesty). All in all this was the perfect place for a family to stay. Had a good kitchenette & a few minute drive from town.
