Hotel Notting Hill

My review is of the room and not of the hotel overall. We booked a family room. The description states "limited view." What is should say is "the basement!" The room is located on -1 floor. From the tiny window you will see feet walking by. If you look at the first picture of the outside of the hotel and see those tiny basement windows, those are it! If I knew that the room is located in the basement, I would have never booked! Additionally, I assume that there is an unpleasant odor in the basement, as the hotel uses ridiculous amounts of air-freshener on the stairs leading down. It was a highly disappointing stay.

Amazing hotel in a great location! The staff was wonderful throughout our stay. Our room was sub-terrain but we still had windows and plenty of light. The hotel breakfast is fantastic. The fresh squeezed orange juice was a big hit with the kids while I enjoyed the delicious coffee. The room has everything we needed including a large waterfall shower.

This hotel is beautiful and the staff super helpful. They explained us all the fun thing to go in Amsterdam. They sell the tours there and explain you how to use the public transportation. Super clean and family friendly hotel and 25 minutes walk from center of city which was great for use since we did not want to be closer to the craziness.

The area is perfect if you are looking to be out of the chaos of the city center. Walking distance to the museum district. The bathroom door was frosted glass framed with clear glass - NOT a ideal for a family room. Air Conditioning was out for the entire first night - it was very hot in the basement level.

The staff is okay. When I booked this room I was under the impression we would have a kitchen come to find out we did not. Also the bathrooms have no privacy if it is something you are looking for basically the bathroom door is clear so everyone outside of it has a clear view of you using the toilet and showering. We let them know and they were willing to let us check out because of this but it was holidays and there was no way we could find a hotel that would accommodate us last minute during the holidays. So we decided to stay and make it work even though there was no kitchen as we wanted or bathroom privacy. On three occasions we asked for our room to be cleaned by pressing the button outside the room and they didn’t clean our room 3 times meaning I didn’t have towels or bathroom toiletries until I called and ask. By our last day they haven’t cleaned and we had garbage they hadn’t disposed of either, used silverware and used cups they hadn’t picked up. On top of that I constantly had to get my room key fixed because it would not work. These small inconveniences made it feel like I truly was not on a vacation and I was constantly doing chores to keep up with what the hotel should be on top of. I’m happy they were reasonable and wanted to let us cancel our reservation but given the holidays circumstances I was not able to do that. This hotel is in a great location so if you just want to go with friends there it’s fine but as a family I would not reccomend.

Room had stains on the walls and ceiling, with dead bugs in the ceiling light. Bathroom shower had no door so water covered more than half the floor. A blue light on a wall panel kept flashing all night making it feel like we had a police car in the room. The toilet seat was loose. But I was told maintenance does not work on weekends. Friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Convenient to the tram and Heineken experience. But I wish they would enforce the no smoking on/near the property rule they threaten you with fines before you arrive and with signs in your room -- I did not appreciate my family having to walk through marijuana smoke from hotel patrons sitting on the front steps.
