Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town

We stayed in one of the family rooms with an extra sofa bed. There was plenty of space in the room. The bathroom had both a shower cubicle and a large bath. The biggest downside for us was the extreme firmness of the mattress which my wife struggled to get comfortable on. The location of the hotel is great for exploring the old town. Really close to good bus / tram stop with a ticket machine. I highly recommend the 5 day ticket which is incredible value at 10 Euro. You can get the number 22 bus to and from the airport and save 30 Euros on taxi fares. The free DIY laundry room is also a handy feature for longer stays. The staff we dealt with were very friendly especially Viktorija.

5/10 - Non-Responsive to Service Issue The hotel facilities themselves were generally decent in terms of cleanliness, etc. Some of the staff were friendly and pleasant to guests, while others were at times dismissive or rude. The major issue we encountered arose with the room service. The hotel seems to often understaff their food services team, so that there is insufficient staff to deliver service in a timely fashion. We ordered room service dinner @ 8:45pm (restaurant closes 10pm), and were told it could take upto 90 mins because they were too busy. Despite our frustrations with that we agreed due to limited options. Our food ended up being delivered after more than 2 hours and was cold. When we expressed our disappointment the next day, we were told by a junior staff member that management said that it was our fault for ordering from the restaurant and they were unable to do anything aside from offer us a complimentary breakfast on our “next stay.” We asked for someone from management to contact us directly which they committed to do but never followed up. We were shocked at this management response and it marred an otherwise acceptable stay.
