Avalon Hotel & Conferences

This is a motel not a hotel. The carpet in the room was stained. The had a singular usb 1 wall charger that took 6 hrs to charge up the phone. The bed was child sized. The shower was also extremely small. One tiny soap bar and 2 tiny shower gels. The entrance is right next a big bus stop, it's noisy, dirty, and completely avoidable. Do yourself a favour and choose a different option.

Very convenient location between the bus and rail stations and the Old Town. Buses and trams stopped outside. We had a junior suite, which was huge. The bathroom was excellent. Really good shower and plenty of countertop around the basin. The range of toiletries and other useful stuff that was provided was impressive. The breakfast was very good. Just about everything you could possibly want and all of excellent quality. The only negatives were very minor. The wardrobe interior shelves were located so the sliding doors blocked access to them. 20cms either way would have made them accessible. Also a shortage of coat hangers. The room had a small fridge which was stuffed full of products we didn't want and were very expensive. As there are numerous convenience stores just outside the hotel it would have been far more useful to have an empty fridge. If I ever return to Riga I would definitely stay at the Avalon again.
