Shinagawa Prince Hotel

The general hotel service is good and the staffs( front desk, reception and staffs supporting check-in)were all very kind and helpful. I booked two rooms for me and my family via Hotels.com. Somehow check-in was not accepted ( I guess there was system error from Hotels. com or between Hotel.com and the hotel. The three hotel staffs had to support more than 40 minutes to solve the error( the machine didn’t accept the reservation numbers)Anyway, it was the first for last 15 years of using this app. I booked one night - one smoking room and the other is for three nights - non-smoking room. The odor of smoking room was terrible. I almost couldn’t breathe and wore a mask while I was sleeping. The bathroom was not properly cleaned and smelled bad. Non- smoking room is clean . ( my family stay two more nights)

The location of this hotel is a 2-3 minute walk to Shinagawa station. We were visiting Japan for the first time and it was super convenient to stay near the Yamanote train line. It takes you to all the hot spots. Rooms were tiny but clean. Great place for kids. Food options are minimal but the train station has many options.

My family really enjoyed the dining options. After a long day on the town, the comfort of a good meal at the Shinagawa Prince was ver welcoming.

This hotel is conveniently located closed to the JR station, attached to a mall with lots of amenities. However, the building itself is quite dated. The rooms and beds are small (we stayed at three different hotel in Japan this trip and this room is definitely the smallest). The tiles and grout in the bathroom can use some bleaching and updating. They have a smoking room on the 3rd floor and you can smell it from the elevator. Breakfast is nice, there two restaurants to choose from, the buffet has lots of options but we had to pay 2500 yen per kid even though we paid extra to have breakfast included when booking the room.

The location is excellent, right across the street from Shinagawa Station with good dining options in close proximity. Our 35th floor corner room had a great view. On the other hand, the room and facilities are showing their age, with a dingy, outdated unit bathroom and well-worn 1980s-90s vintage furnishings and small beds. Neither contemporary nor classic vintage, just old. Definitely overdue for an update. Our biggest disappointment, however, was that the hotel wanted to charge us 7,000 yen per adult and 4,000 yen per child (a total of 18,000 yen or about $112 for the 3 of us) to use the pool. With plans to swim for only about an hour, that steep fee would not have been a good use of money. So although we had changed into swimwear and hiked all the way down to the pool, we had to pass. Not a good experience for paying guests of the hotel. It’s almost as if the management wants to discourage people from using the pool. So location aside, this hotel punches below its weight.

Besides the obvious that was expected (Clean room, great service, responsive service team) I have to say the location and amenities fit the bill for both business travelers like me and family travelers.

This hotel is extremely convenient for transit options, shopping/dining, and entertainment. The hotel offers family friendly activities such as a bowling alley and aquarium. With a 711 convenience store onsite, there’s always a simple food option next to the variety of restaurants offered. Sadly, the quality of cleanliness and amenities have decreased. Our room was not vacuumed, tables not wiped down (dusty), the bathroom tiles were dirty, and room amenities were a bare minimum. Sustainability is understandable, but soaps/shampoos weren’t refilled once and a toothbrush was the only provided amenity. Of the several stays that we’ve booked, the quality has gone down significantly in the last 6 months, and we can only hope things will improve. It was slightly disappointing coming from a cheaper Daiwa Roynet Hotel where cleanliness and amenities were 10/10.

It’s our first time to visit Tokyo. The whole city left us so many good memories include your hotel. Yes, we will come again. A Canadian family

Overall a great place to live, very convenient to the station (5-10 min walk depends on your speed). Building location itself has various gift shop, food court, convenience store (7/11), either within the building or 2 min walking distance. Room overall is very clean (though a bit small, its Tokyo, what can you do right?). Staff is friendly and professional, their English can be better (I understand that it is their second language, however, i feel like sometimes both the staff or i have to guess and interpret what we are trying to communicate). In my opinion, this hotel is great for family with children and perhaps for those who like to take it a little easy for visiting Tokyo. For those who are in Tokyo for anime, maid culture, fashion, video game, and others, i would recommend perhaps stay either in Shibuya, Harajuku, or Akihabara.
