I recently stayed at Grand Hotel Cavour for 2 nights with my family, and we were seeking upscale accommodations that met our high expectations. This hotel did not disappoint. The rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished, and the amenities are excellent. The hotel’s central location, just a 4-minute walk from the Duomo, is surrounded by plenty of restaurants.
The front desk staff were exceptionally courteous and friendly, providing helpful information about the area. When my wife had some difficulty with her luggage, a staff member promptly assisted us, which was a rare and appreciated gesture. We stayed in the family room, which consists of two connected rooms, offering ample space, two large bathrooms, and comfortable bedrooms—ideal for a family of four.
Although the Wi-Fi was occasionally spotty, our overall experience was fantastic. The hotel is situated on a busy street that can accommodate only one car at a time, but there is a designated spot for temporarily parking taxis, which helps when unloading luggage. If the spot is occupied, you might need to be quick to avoid honking from other cars, but the taxi drivers are usually understanding.
I highly recommend Grand Hotel Cavour to all travelers visiting the area.

The staff are not hospitable. My family of 5: 2 adults and 3 small children, stayed at their flagship Beatrice suit, for 3 nights in mid March 2024. There was no wash cloth/sponge provided. Bathroom plumbing was clogged & shower stall flooded on our first night; they came to fix it but left the soaked shower carpet there. They provided exactly 4 small bottles of water per day and made guests use their overpriced coin-op vending machine to get more water if needed. We were from the U.S. and didn’t have the local coins. We called reception desk for wash cloths & more water because we were extremely thirsty from our trip. The lady who picked up refused to give us either then hung up on me curtly. The next morning, I went to the front desk to speak with the manager about our experience. The manager did not come out to see us: the front desk staff instead said we could email the manager or let him relay our concerns to manager. We told the staff our issues but never heard back from the manager of Grand Hotel Cavour. The a/c didn’t work and were all sweating through the night. We mentioned this to the front desk and she said it’s “winter” so their a/c will only blow hot air and our only option was to switch the a/c off. Temperature was in the low 60s during our stay and so we stayed hot since they couldn’t even provide us a fan. No clothing iron provided either for “safety” reasons. Rooms were not sound proof. Extremely loud noise in our suit nightly till about 4am. Kept us awake.

One of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in while visiting Europe. Close to the Duomo, the Academia (The David) and Uffizi museums. The city is extremely walkable from this location. Awesome rooms for families. Price was fair.

Grand Hotel Cavour was a beautiful hotel, I asked what it had been originally, and found out that it was a palace of the Boudouini family from the year 1500. In 1865 became a hotel when Florence became the capitol of Italy. The breakfast room still has original frescoes by the painter Galileo Chini.I was kindly provided the information by one of the employees at the front desk, she even wrote it down for me.
The breakfast room and the breakfast were wonderful. The rooftop bar was amazing, offering beautiful views of Florence.
Another plus of Grand Hotel Cavour was the staff, always welcoming, and helpful. Prior to our arrival the concierge, Elisa, was very helpful and arranged for a van to transport our family of seven to a algritourismo in the Tuscany countryside on our departure from Florence. In addition when Apple air buds were left in the van, the kind van driver returned them to the hotel and the hotel has arranged for them to shipped back to California, very much appreciated.
The rooms were very nice, beds comfortable, amazing views from the rooms, great location within easy walking distance to points of interest, and the train station.
I hope we return to Florence, and when we do we will definitely stay at the Grand Hotel Cavour
