Cocoon Stachus

This is a perfectly fine and economical hotel. It is tidy and clean with great friendly staff. It’s very close to Munich Hbf to the south. It probably isn’t the best neighbourhood for families, with hints of red light district in the immediate vicinity.

Very eco friendly & close to the city center. Great hot water in the shower! I paid for a slightly larger room with a hanging chair, and the staff locayed me in a smaller suite, with no hanging chair. I elected not to say anything because I was only staying for 2 nights. Plus, there was not that big of a price difference. Noisy street - screaming kids throughout the day and loud drunks yelling bloody murder at night. I would not suggest staying here if you value sleep.

Great central location to transportation hub. Room on the small side. Not sure if our room was still not completely finished. We stayed with another family. Their room had a wallpaper and a swinging reading chair. We saw a hook in our room but no chair. No wallpaper. The decor was bare- just a plain beige room. Construction around was noisy and there was scaffolding outside our window. Checking in was easy even though computer system was down. Didn’t have breakfast (€17) felt a bit steep for what the options outside can offer. Clean room. Bathroom is see thru though. If you are sharing w friends. They will see you showering!

While the area around the Hauptbahnhof can be a little uncomfortable for Americans, the street Cocoon Stachus is on was reasonably quiet. The door was usually open but the desk was always manned. We had a double bed and a twin. Storage was good. Space between the beds was less than Americans expect but still reasonable and usable. Decor was tasteful and inviting. AC worked! Dog friendly, though we didn't have need of that. We sprang for breakfast one morning. They had hot and cold options, a nice coffee machine, and local honey. (We were so enthused about the scrambled eggs.) Staff were responsive and super polite. One went above and beyond to help us with a question about child car seats. (Definitely not her job!) We would stay again!
