Les Fontaines du Luxembourg

The staff made us feel like family. The breakfast was tasty. The rooms well appointed. Lots of places to eat in walking distance. The staff went out of their way to be helpful.

This hotel was conveniently located near the metro stop which made for a very easy trip from the airport to the hotel. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating of our early arrival and offered to store our luggage while we began our sightseeing and waited for the check-in time. The hotel was full of character and the bathrooms and rooms were delightful. The street noise was minimal at night. We were able to walk to many of the sights and found an excellent fondue restaurant nearby for dinner. The price was entirely reasonable for the quality we received. Perfect for our family of five.

While the staff are friendly and the rooms are attractive (if small), one could do better for the price even at this location. We arrived exhausted with two small children only to find that the connecting family room that we had reserved - and that was our main reason for booking here - was not available. They had had some water leakage but not informed us, even though I was in touch with the hotel about other things. Eventually they gave us two rooms next to each other for one night which was not ideal because each parent had to stay with one child and we could not unpack, and then moved us to a different connecting room for the second night. That was better but we had to keep the air-conditioning off on one side because it was making a very loud, high pitched noise. When I informed the staff they told us they knew about it and that's just the way that unit is and maybe we could just turn it off. In short, the hotel has a lot of potential but there need to be systems in place to fix things when they go wrong. The family connecting room is a good idea but without it it makes more sense to stay at some of neighboring hotels that have larger rooms and in some case offer a view.
