InterContinental Paris le Grand, an IHG Hotel

I had stayed here in 2005 with my children and returned because I loved the hotel's grandeur and remembered it fondly. However, when we arrived, albeit it early, we were assigned a room overlooking the A/C units even though we paid extra for club level. We were offered no upgrades, despite our status with Expedia. The room itself was small, the duvet cover was torn, the shower grout job was extremely poor, the tub was rusty in the corner, and the showerhead was dirty. Absolutely not what I expect from an Intercontinental or this property, which I previously loved, in any regard. I am not sure what happened, but I hope someone gets this property back on track.

poor service from staff. Wrong room provided by the hotel, we payed for junior suite but was provided with a room that didn't resemble one. understaffed concierge. poor butler service.

This hotel was AMAZING!! An absolute must for any visit to Paris. Old world luxury with classic Parisian charm. Great for families or couples looking for a romantic weekend. The staff was excellent from the moment we arrived with our luggage to when we checked out. The hotel was packed but you barely noticed. My wife and i were in Paris for the final two nights of our travels through France. I reserved a junior suite and upon arrival was upgraded to a larger room. My original reservation was for a balcony so i went back to front desk to ask about a room with a balcony. When i showed them my original reservation confirmation showing a balcony, the staff at the front desk worked extremely hard to find me a room that suited my needs. In the end, they gave my wife and i a presidential suite at no extra charge as an "apology" for the mistake they made by not accommodating my original request. The view was incredible with the opera house on one side and the Eiffel Tower on the other. Hotel is about 15-20 minutes walk to the Louvre with tons of fun side streets loaded with cafes, bars and boutiques (for all price points) to explore along the way. The Champs d'Elysse is a little further walk but again, if the weather is beautiful, which it was, than its a real easy one. Plenty of taxis in front of the hotel. Uber also works very well in Paris. Can't wait to visit again, next time with the kids for sure. This will be our go-to hotel every time we go to Paris.

First a mistake was made regarding our room. Secondly, we were almost charged again for one night, but due to our insisting we already paid they double checked. And then there was a 40+ euro charge for a 12 min domestic phone call. Where the receptionist insisted that this was a normal charge in France. Who is she kidding. I have been coming to france for a long time, that's not a normal charge. Neither were rates located next to the phone. After all this happened received "nice" face from doorman who put the baggage in the taxi, presumably because at that point we didn't feel much like tipping.
