Go Hotel Ansgar

The staff was very nice and polite. However it was possible to see that the floor of my room was not properly clean. I was also staying in the 3rd floor and I would always wake up with a smell in my room which came from the breakfast which was on the 1st floor. It seemed that smell would just take all the floors. The isolation of the walls was quite bad and it was possible to hear the people in the next room speaking or taking a shower. The room was also incredibly warm without the heating on. When I first arrived to the hotel it was quite a shock due to the location. Even thought is super close to the main train station and tivoli gardens, the area surrounding the hotel initially seemed a bit unsafe. I got to know later from my a danish friend thay even though is not such a good looking area is still very safe and is now becoming very hippie with each time more danish families moving there.

I booked 2 rooms at this hotel based on the positive online reviews. A room for our adult kids and a room for us. Upon arriving we quickly discover our assigned rooms could barely accommodate 2 adults. The rooms are tiny, a double room would be fine for 1 person but not for 2 people. We left the washroom door open and used the toilet as a chair as there was only one other chair in the room. It is difficult to see the situation in the photos. The room are small, the decor is dated and the amenities are limited. Our stay was 3 days so we ended up booking a larger room in another hotel, giving the 2 rooms at Ansgar to our 2 adult kids. Unfortunately we double our costs for this stint of our trip. I have trouble believing some of the comments online and would not recommend this hotel. On a positive note, the front desk was friendly, the hotel had bikes to rent and the location of the hotel was good although a little sketchy later at night.

Great hotel very close to the station but on a quiet road. Our family room was a decent size, with 4 beds, sofa, desk area, fridge, kettle, and good clean bathroom. Radiators in room weren't turned on, but we had underfloor heating in bathroom which seemed to on all from evening til morning, this made the room more than warm enough!! Didn't try the breakfast so can't comment. We were able to leave our luggage for free all day on our last day. You can pay if you want it in a locked room. If you're looking for a clean economical room in Copenhagen, this place is perfect.
