Urban Green Hotel & Suites

I would highly recommend Urban Green for anyone that wants to be right in the city center for a reasonable price! The hotel was very comfortable and the room we got (the family suite) was very spacious with more than enough room for our group of 4. I loved how convenient it was to walk to everything in the downtown area. The amenities at the hotel were great too, with the laundry and the breakfast being the standouts. The staff was super helpful and even accommodated our need for a middle of the night check in (since we had a very late arrival). We enjoyed our stay so much that after returning to San Jose (we visited a few other parts of the country before returning to the city for a final night before leaving), we cancelled our other hotel so that we could stay at Urban Green again.

This is a nice, modern, and spacious hotel centrally located in the heart of San Jose. It is very walkable & there are a lot of shopping and dining options within a couple of km. It has an underground parking garage that is free to hotel guests, but it is pretty tight, so it's difficulty to go in & out if you're driving an SUV, and impossible to access if you're driving a large van, as was in my case. They said the max. height was 2 meters, but it's actually less than that. What I totally detest is the way they interacted with us at the front counter when checking in, and their unreasonable and bad faith interpretation of their policies on number of guests "included with the reservation". We were a large group, had reserved a total of 4 rooms. One of the rooms was for 2 adults and 2 children, and the other 3 rooms were reserved for 1 adult & 2 children per room. The rates for ALL 4 rooms were the same, regardless if the room had 4 guests or 3 guests. When we arrived to check in, we had an extra child, so making 2 of the 4 rooms having 4 guests and the other 2 rooms with 3 guests each. The agent at the reception argued that because we had not "declared" the additional child, we had to pay an add'l guest fee. I told him that had we listed 4 guests instead of 3 in the room, the rate would have been the same, because 1 of the rooms we reserved had 2 adults and 2 kids originally listed and the rate was the same as those w/ 3 guests. The location was very near the center of city life! The staff friendly overall. The carpet in the hotel room was dirty though, and my family and I had an allergic reaction to the pollen and dust. Overall, adequate and clean in general. Unfortunately our room had no window so we felt sort of trapped...

This hotel is in a area that is not fit to have small kids. And we tried to cancel out reservation and the refused. Staff was not friendly and the surrounding of the hotel not safe to have kids around. If your are looking to have your family do not stay here.

The location of the hotel was excellent and within walking distance to central San Jose. The hotel was clean and the junior suite was good value for money. However, the shower had a missing door and the air conditioning kept on leaking water. Apart from those two negatives, the hotel is an excellent choice for anyone who is keen to explore central town.
