Hotel Cultura Plaza

Good rooms and excellent facilities. Great service. Good breakfast. Location is good in terms of being close to main tourist attractions in San Jose. Unfortunately, the area has become very unsafe, dirty and unpleasant overall. Wouldn’t recommend this location, especially for families with children.

It was the worse experience in my life in front of my family, the guy in charge if the hotel welcomed us with a terrible attitude and asked my sister and brother n law to leave the hotel. As soon as he saw us coming told us ,no one else beside the person who had the reservation could stayed. I felt so bad because they just dropping us by the hotel. Them asked us to sign a piece of paper saying we agree to pay for any damages. I didnt like his attitude and told him about it and responded to me that if i didnt like it , i could leave. So, with this kind of treatment of course i didnt wanted to spend my money in this hotel. Dont recommended 😑

At check-in I was told I’d be charged an additional $15 per person per night, after 2 adults, even though I booked a room with the capacity of 4 people. All guests had to show ID, even kids. I asked if we could place our bags in the room before filling out paperwork and was told no. After a long day of travel with kids, if the room is paid, and I was already checked-in, why not be courteous?

This place was thoroughly disappointing, for 2 reasons: first, the place is impossible to get to via car, you have to park a few blocks away, because of the byzantine pedestrian and one-way streets in downtown San Jose. Second, the room is literally just a featureless white cell. Totally not comfy or cozy. This would be ok if it were likely that you could have a nice time out nearby, but during the night this neighborhood is totally unsafe and scary, with guys snorting meth on the sidewalks and hookers doing their thing. It was disgusting to walk around after dark. In the daytime it was ok, but still not the location I would recommend for a family travelling.
