The staff is amazing, the grounds are clean and beautiful. The breakfast is small but excellent and there was a little kitchen on the balcony that was perfect for making family lunches. I wouldn't even bother looking elsewhere!

Location is great for big families, property is small and well equipped. The staff is friendly and helpful in needs including getting around the town and also in finding things to enjoy during your stay. The hotel offers a variety of tourism options to do all recommendations offered where top rated options and they deliver in Sevice . They go above and beyond to meet your needs and to help facilitate the process in planning your days especially when traveling with big family group all adults . This property is great for adults that want to have more of an authentic feel in Costa Rica where there is also a time and space to zen surrounded by the nature around.

Pumilio is a beautiful private place, perfect for families or couples. You are surrounded by nature and lots of cool wildlife right outside your room! Monkeys, iguanas, geckos, toucans, and many other bird species were seen daily during our stay. The pool is refreshing and clean...we so enjoyed it to cool off after being out in the heat. The breakfast is delicious, with many choices. The staff is helpful and friendly, and were very easy to find or reach if we needed anything. It was so comforting to return to our clean quiet room everyday. We slept so well at Pumilio and were sad to leave!

All good except for the loud family with screaming kids in the room next door. Placing your customers in appropriate rooms is important.

We got a family suite with access to the pool through a balcony. Specious and good for 5 people. The room was very clean. there is a kitchenet at the balcony area, which was very unclean: garbage was left on the counter, the kitchenware was dusty, and there was a dead bug lying legs up.. breakfast was nice. We came during the holiday season so the hotel may have been busier than usual (?), but we did not get hot water in both nights we stayed. On the second night we asked about hot water, and they said they'd take care of it, and we got hot water after about 2 hours (shrug). The thing that left us feeling most uncomfortable was the ordering takeaway food experience. We were specifically told by the guy that checked us in, that if we want to order takeaway food from one of the businesses around, it would only cost us an extra $6 on top of the regular price. We ordered a pizza that cost $20 online, and thought we will pay about $26 for ordering in. At checkout the young lady at the front desk asked for $68 for the pizza... it was going to be the most expensive pizza we had in our entire lives. We don't usually argue for pricing, but this time we just felt conned, and after a short exchange we ended up paying $26. she also tried to charge twice for things already paid for.. The hotel is located far from the Jaco beaches, but there is a very fun 10 waterfall hike experience that you can get online (you can't go there by yourself, it's a private area)

The property is awesome for couples and children. The staff was great except for one gate keeper. Sometimes I couldn’t get in for a while and once I had to jump the fence to get out before my driver left. The biggest issue is there is a very understated restriction or “NO GUEST POLICY” that should be made clearer before accepting the reservation. Stray dogs and cats Rome in and out of the gate all day and night but the moment you bring a human they’re treated like stray animals with a disease. I get having rules but they need to be stated better and maybe. I’ll honestly never stay here again and would not recommend it to my friends but I did recommend it to my little brother and his wife. To end on a good note, breakfast was great.

Our family of four (11,13,44,45) stayed at Hotel Pumilio for two nights in April of 2023. We had a fantastic stay. We selected the hotel knowing it was less than a 10 min drive to downtown Jaco. We heard about the hustle and bustle of downtown Jaco and we were not interested in sleeping there. We were close enough to head downtown and explore but appreciated being able to get away. Our room was steps away from the pool which our girls really loved. They spent a ton of time in the pool. The room had great AC and a really useful outdoor kitchen and full sized refrigerator. We had a nice table with 4 chairs outside that we used for dinner one night and we played card games as a family. There were bikes on site that guests were able to use, but we never took advantage of them. The ride was a little too far away and there is a main road you would need to ride on. Breakfast each morning was perfect. There is a station where someone makes you eggs, omelets, pancakes or waffles to order. There are other stations with rice, meat, cheese, fruit, juices and toast. The hotel has jungle surrounding it so iguanas were always around the pool deck. My girls loved that. The main office was helpful and answered all of our questions. They provided extra towels for us and gave us good recommendations for downtown. I would recommend Hotel Pumilio to any family or couple looking to visit the Jaco area and were looking for a quieter place to sleep.

Great spot for my kids (ages 4 & 9), spouse and I to stay 3 nights! Very clean. Kind & helpful staff. Great pool. Best breakfast and amazing options! Loved eating breakfast on covered outside patio while my active 4 year old explored in and around the pool (with supervision). Outside shower to rinse off when we returned from a fun & muddy ATV ride and the beach. Didn’t have time for a massage, but highly recommend getting one here (not in downtown Jaco).

Pictures were taken when this property was first built or something, bc its run down and not clean. As a travel agent that travels quite a bit, not something I would ever recommend to my clients. Ants in kitchenette, breakfast area ( on sugar packets), hair on "clean" bedsheets, dirt in bathroom, being given a small dirty blanket and fitted sheet as an extra blanket for the 5th guest, are you joking me..the reception area is a joke in itself as well as if you go to the reception bathroom ( which I had to since we had to wait for our room, and I am glad I did so that I know) had nothing as a paper towel, had sewing kits all over the little sink area. I understand mom and pop hotels, but come on, if its a 3 star hotel as it claims, this is not what you expect. We checked out the next morning and went to a different hotel, it was a pain having to go through all this while on vacation with a little kid. absolutely unhappy and would not recommend unless you just need a place to lie at pool and are okay with the other factors. I wish hotel was true to the beautiful pics as on Expedia, because I was looking forward to staying there. this was a frustrating experience.
