Beautiful location, and very friendly staff. We stayed in the main resort (King bed room on 2nd floor), had a great time, and would definitely return. That being said, so that expectations are met, the resort is on a gulf island which comes with some rustic elements and perhaps a bit more laid back approach to overall management. They appear to be dealing with some staffing issues, and so you might not see the same attention to detail that you would be familiar with at other boutique resorts. Its not clear if that is a reflection of the current economy or related to ownership/management. I strongly recommend planning your trip so that you have back-up food options for your room (snacks etc.) as there is really no amenities nearby and the local Mooring’s cafe, although good quality and friendly service, doesn’t open until 8-830, and closes early. The pub food (Syrens) is good, but closes early (730 Sun-Thurs, 830 Fri/Sat) so if you are an early riser or have late night food cravings, you might be out of luck. No room service options, and no food vending machine (that I could see). Maybe pack some bottled water too, as the tap water has a bit of a mineral taste to it, which may not be for everyone. The Spa “steam cave” was a very pleasant surprise. The Spa was a one-woman show, but she is very strong, and her service was excellent. Highly recommend. The lower pool was lovely (warm) and would be for great kids/families.

When we booked we were not told the Spa was closed indefinitely and there was no AC in the rooms. Also we were informed no daily housekeeping was going to happen. We went during the heatwave and our room was facing the sun all afternoon so it was like a sauna in there for 3 nights. They didn't even offer us a fan until I made a complaint. The room itself wasn't overally clean. I had to wipe out bathtub before I used it and then the water is very yellow so made that experience not the best. The carpets are badly stained and the patio area needs a good pressure wash. We decided to cool off in bottom level pool but it was almost same temp as a hot tub so we went to upper level pool which was supposed to be 19 and over but it was full of kids and no loungers to be had. The resort itself is beautiful with amazing views but they definitely need upgrading and AC units in the rooms with Southern exposure. Syrens restaurant was excellent with a very nice staff and amazing food. I was disappointed as we paid $400 a night after taxes and I feel the price should have been adjusted a bit.
