Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns

We selected this property for its proximity to the marina as our plans included an excursion out to the Great Barrier Reef. We selected a room with a view of the marina. It was fabulous to awake to the sunrise with the boats in the foreground. However, there was alot of pedestrian noise in the evening until very late. The hotel is an easy stroll in to town and to the walk along the promenade. There are many restaurants located right beside the hotel. We did try to use the pool on two occasions, just before dinner and and again after dinner. However, we found that the pools were filled with children , having lots of fun, but causing nearby adults to be splashed. A heads up. The hotel has a beautiful foyer . Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We did notice that the hotel rooms and hallways were a bit dated and in need of updating. We were disappointed with the shower in our room. There were several areas of black mold on the grout. When we turned on the taps , the fixture was rather loose and it felt as if it might break off. Overall, the location was scenic and it fit the bill for a 3 night stay.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The facilities were fantastic and caters for both couples and families.

Amazing location, needed more employees around the pool bar, complex a little bit dated However can’t beat the location or the service! Better shops would have been nice. Buffett breakfast was amazing, kids loved it. Very friendly staff.

Beautiful property in the best location- on the marina front close to restaurants and tour departures. Service was very efficient and friendly. Pool area was great for lounging and for families.

Wouldn't say it was 5 star... cupboard was broken in our room. No microwave for heating basics. Would think that they would hire out pushers for guests with baby and small children. No business underneath in mall all closed. Would not stay again or recommend

Room 2098 was very noisy being right next door to the sliding door enterence…however the view of the marina was spectacular. The kids room was great, suggest moving the table tennis table inside as well

Must stay hotel in Cairns. 5 mins walking distance to almost everything…food, pool, boardwalk, Ferris wheel for kids…15 mins to airport. Super friendly staff and amazing rooms with views
