Mammoth Hot Springs & Cabins - Inside the Park

Adorable, clean cabin. It was fun being tucked in to the park to stay with our kids. The room isn’t very big, but that’s not what we came for, so it wasn’t an issue for us. It was amazing to hear the Elk bugling right out our door in the morning. There was no air conditioning, but even though it was hot that day, it cooled down in the evening and we slept with the windows open. It was perfect for us.

Expensive food with bad service. Also nothing else is around unless you drive to Gardiner late in the night so you end up paying with no choice. The dining room supposed to close at 9. We went at 8 and they said they are not seating and we need to order pickup. Yet later they let other parties in and on asking they said they are only allowing parties 2 or less but not 4 (which was ridiculous) and when we asked can we sit as two groups of 2 first they didn't answer and later said with a wait time of 10 minutes. We ended up ordering to go and by the time our order was ready they let other groups in. Half of the items on the menu were over and the portion sizes were a joke ($25 for 2 tiny pieces of tofu). We slept hangry that day. initial thought was, were they being racist to a brown family but giving them the benefit of doubt I concluded they are just disorganized with bunch of overworked youngsters handling the front.

We visited Yellowstone and were looking for some hot springs. Although, there aren’t any hot springs around this hotel, nor a pool we enjoyed dining nearby in Gardiner. Our stay at the hotel was a bit creepy and hard to sleep for me personally, but the kids slept well. It is haunted and not sure if everyone experiences interactions with spirits or believes in it, but I had an experience that lead to a lack of sleep. Outside of this, the beds are comfortable, bathrooms updated nicely and a decent sized room. (We stayed on the second floor in a corner room.) The gift shop is full of great gifts and the staff are all very pleasant.
