Hampton Inn and Suites Dumas

I had reserved a physically challenged room for, what I assumed, the first floor. We have to have several pieces of medical equipment with us when we travel and we will literally fill an entire large luggage rack. When we arrived after our 6 hour drive, we were told our room was on the second floor. The room was very spacious and clean. but smelled as though someone had spilled an entire container of baby powder throughout the room. Then, my poor husband had to cram the large luggage rack into and out of the small elevator.

Overall, our stay was decent. We've stayed at this particular Hampton Inn in Dumas several times on our way to/from visiting family in Colorado. We intentionally chose Hampton Inn for this trip vs the Holiday Inn Express next door because Hampton has a significantly better quality breakfast. However we were extremely disappointed to find the breakfast has been scaled down a lot (no hard boiled eggs, fewer options in general, fewer toppings for oatmeal, most of the fruit was old looking, etc). The "hot items" were powdered eggs and turkey sausage links. Gross. We asked the kitchen employees if they ever still serve the smoked sausages, omelets, hard boiled eggs, or little breakfast pizzas. She said that post-Covid, they no longer do. But we've stayed at other Hampton Inns (Mississippi and further east) since Covid and they still had the full breakfast with better options. We thought it would be worth the extra almost $50 for this hotel vs Holiday Inn Express, but we were so disappointed. For the price difference, we will just stay somewhere else next time and go out to breakfast. But other than the food, overall the stay was decent. The room seemed clean other than the fabric bench which was covered in stains. We will likely stay at a Hampton again, but probably not this one.
