Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Alvarado, an IHG Hotel

First we got there and staff was excellent. Gave us our room key and went to the room. First walked in and smelled mildew. Didn’t think anything of it because I’m not the type to complain. Well the carpet felt sticky. Wouldn’t let the little one run around without shoes. Then the shower didn’t work nor would the water get hot. It was like warm. After the first night my wife had it with the smell. Told the front and switched rooms no question. Staff again excellent! New room so much better! Carpet felt clean, shower worked, smelled better. BUT, the a/c barely blew all night. Put it as low as it could go and nothing. Slept with the sheets and no blanket. Got the family up at 4am and left back home.

Booked this hotel on hotels.com for family trip for Thanksgiving. Drove 9 hours with two babies 3yrs and 3 Mos. When i got to the hotel the man said he never received my booking through hotel.com. He said he showed it come through expidea which was not right so i had to pay way more than what i was supposed to pay for my booking through hotels.com. Manager did not work with me on paying what i originally booked the rooms for. If I wouldve known I would have to pay what I paid I would have chose a way better hotel than this one. I did not want to argue or fight with the manager because my family was exhausted after driving 9 hours. When I got to the rooms there was black marks all over the walls like a child colored on them. Someone needs to clean the walls. Carpet was not cleaned to well either. And the coffee was absolutely DIGUSTING.

The rooms which our family got was 4 total. Every room smelled very musty, wet and mildew was present in the heating/cooling units. and the carpets are very old and dingy. The toilet seat was off and very dangerous.

Excellent stay, super clean rooms and customer service and delicious breakfast. Great location, easy access to freeway and several places to eat nearby. Have stayed here several times when I am visiting my family and it is always excellent. Definitely recommend.

The worst experience ever we stayed to nights the second neight we had a family event to attend we left and they cleaning rooms which i thought they wpuldnt go in there since we were still staying another night. Well the cleaning people when in to take trash out because nothing else was cleaned. Well they stole my sons expenses cologne. The cologne itself cost more than our stay. I told the lady in the front in the morning because we did get there late the night before and she just said well nobody's has turned anything in! Well why would they if they stole it! Inasked to speak to the manager and supposedly wasnt in amd wasnt going to be in until the next more so she "took" down my information like if they already didnt have it its been 2 weeks and nobody has tried to reach me! I can just imagine this person digging through our stuff.

The staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. My children and I stayed 2 nights for an event we had in a neighboring town. I felt safe staying there with them. The facility was not in “new” repair but our room was clean and the Continental breakfast was hot. We would stay here again, if needed.

I was initially not happy with the hotel as when I checked in at 4:45 pm (check in begins at 3 pm) I was given a room with only a king size bed and pull out sofa. I had reserved 2 queens. When I went back down to the front desk to tell them about the mix up I was told that Expedia had sent them a reservation for a king suite with pull out sofa. I find this hard to believe considering I had a copy of the reservation that clearly stated 2 queens. I was told that they were completely booked and there was no other rooms available. So I had no choice but to take it. It was my husband and I traveling with our 2 kids (7 and 12). However the king size bed was extremely comfortable. The mattress on the pull out sofa wasn’t comfortable for my 12 year old son though. You could feel the springs through it. The room was nice and clean. AC worked great. So overall it was a good stay. Just call beforehand to ensure your reservation is correct.

I did not get the room I reserved. I booked a 2-queen bed suite with an extended room website said 325sq.ft and was given a regular 2 queen bedroom no couch. The woman at the counter was nice and gave us another room. I booked this size so our family could be together in one room. I believe they gave our room away because we arrived late. I never cancelled our room we just arrived late.
