Holiday Inn Express & Suites Union City, an IHG Hotel

I was unexpectedly upgraded to the "kids suite." This is the room with a queen bed and a bunk bed. The girls loved the bunk beds and having "their own room." It's a small space with a divider. I thought it was wonderful for me and an my 8 and 11 year old co-travelers. The people at the hotel were great, and we were basically in the shadow of Discovery Park which the kids also loved.

There was a lake and a bean field outback it was gorgeous the scenery was beautiful the breakfast had no pork options which was great and the staff was kinda friendly but not to the kids they were annoyed by them being there but we took our food to our rooms then left the beds were soft and there was dove washes in the shower I’d stay there again

This is a great hotel property with all the amenities. We rented 3 rooms (with children) and they made sure we had adjoining rooms which was great. The indoor pool was a great bonus for us to help “entertain “ kids after a day at Discovery Park-it is right next door! The free breakfast had egg and cheese omelettes, bacon, biscuits and gravy and all kinds of sweet rolls and muffins as well as cereal. It was certainly a step above other hotels. The rooms are large and clean and very new. Best choice ever!

We booked this hotel for a 1-night stay. We had an unexpected death in the family and were unable to go on this trip. The hotel manager refused to let us cancel the room and was extremely rude and unprofessional. Both Expedia and the IHG corporate office attempted to go contact her to discuss this and Expedia submitted a penalty waiver on our behalf. The manager refused to come to the phone each time anyone called and she denied our penalty waiver stating that the request was past the cancellation deadline (it was 2 days after the deadline). The hotel also kept stating that it was up to Expedia to cancel the room.. not the hotel. The Expedia customer service rep pulled the hotel’s cancellation policy and it stated that the cancellations were done at the hotel’s discretion. When I questioned the hotel about this they said “well, our manager said no. So, sorry.” Not one person that I spoke with in the hotel (multiple phone calls and never once spoke with the actual manager as she refused to come to the phone each time) even had the decency to offer any condolences for our loss. All we were told over and over was “Sorry. That’s our policy.” We also booked under the ‘Pay when you stay’ offer but I received an alert from my card at 4am the day that we were supposed to check-in that my card was just charged for the full amount. Beware before booking here!! Extremely rude, unprofessional, and uncaring. I’m sure any other hotel in the area would be a far better choice.

This hotel was hands down one of the best hotel stays I have had in a long time! Clean! Quiet! Awesome for kids! Breakfast was super clean and delish! Hubs even thought it was legit homemade. Nice scenery to sit outside. Just a great great stay! We will be back even if it is to just enjoy the hotel!
