Scholar State College, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Unfortunately I can't tell you anything about the hotel, as covid hit our family and despite several days notice, they would not see if anyone else would pay the same rate for the room on a Penn State football weekend when every hotel is sold out and instead, chose to stick us with a $2000 bill when we could not come. Had they at least tried to rebook the room, I would feel differently.

Checked in at 8:30 pm after 4 hour drive and asked how late restaurant was open. Was told restaurant until 10 and bar until 11. Went with family to eat and as we are eating the bill is brought to us and we were told they are closing at 9:30 and the staff started her side work and put all the bottles of alcohol away. Went to get coffee in the lobby in the morning and the coffee was empty, had to ask twice for it to be refilled. The room was very nice except there was garbage left over from the previous person, dirty dishes in dishwasher and the inside of the stove was disgustingly dirty. Not what we expected and disappointed. Called the front desk to discuss with the manager and was told by Noah that Emily would be calling me back. 6 hours later and still no call returned. Called back and was told she is very busy. We have stayed at many hotels in State College and this was our first disappointment.

Beautiful inside, but they do not clean up outside. The front entrance had trash everywhere. The BIGGEST concern -- there is a door on the side road that leads right to the basement which is supposed to only be accessed via your hotel key card....but it is unlocked 24/7. So anyone walking around town can easily access the elevator going into the hotel, a bathroom that is located in the basement, and closets where they do the hotel laundry, where pillows etc are kept. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD not only for hotel guests, but for any of the young college kids who may venture into the bathroom in the basement.....they all know its there. You can imagine the shenanigans that occur in that basement.
