Sunset Motel On The Bay

Reminded me o, f motels i stayed at when with my family when i was a kid. Knotty pine walls 2 bedrooms. large living room. Right on the lake. Close to town.

The rooms were really dated, but the hotels workers were very friendly and accommodating for our late checking/ checkout. The room was spacious because we had two bedrooms and provided some space between us and our teenage kids. We did not eat there so I cannot comment on that. Room had a pretty view of the lake with picnic tables and grills.

Loved the outdoor seating along the lakefront. Everyone was out to watch the beautiful sunset and we just sat and enjoyed the peaceful views for several more hours. This is an older motel that worked great for our family. Nothing fancy.

The location is beautiful. Very nice view. The only surprise was, its bed and breakfast kind, but breakfast is almost no options , its more of Snacks n coffee. I had kids with me, and it was bit challenging to find some breakfast, without spending additional time and money, so plan accordingly. Rest was good.

This is the second time I have used one of the house rental properties at the hotel. The location is excellent, right on the bay with stunning views. It is also close to many of the stunning Pictured Rock landmarks. There is plenty of room to park two cars. If needed, someone could use the street. There is a cute back porch that has a table and chairs. They also have a grill if you were so inclined. All of the bedrooms are upstairs. The beds were fine and we were able to sleep really well. The open floorplan was community friendly for chatting and games. The bathroom is good sized, even though the fan didn't work. There are a few little things that people should know before their stay. The dryer absolutely does not work. lololol. We washed towels and had to dry them literally 4 times at 119 min. The stairs are super loud, creaky. It is almost hilarious how loud they are--back in the day, definitely no kid was sneaking in and up without someone going on alert. It was super toasty upstairs. So much so we opened the stairs window a crack. Also, the kitchen isn't the best power wise. As a woman that works for an electrical contractor, this problem happens all of the time--too much power to one breaker. Just be careful. The crockpot and the toaster couldn't be run at the same time when the stove was on. I enjoy staying in this quiet little neighborhood--even in a quirky house.

We were excited about staying at this property and even planned a 2-night stay, but when we opened the door to our room the air was filled with mold and mildew! Because we had paid for both nights, we were unable to get our money back for the 2nd night. We were forced to stay for 1 might and then we packed up and left. Very poor house cleaning, mold and mildew on carpets, loud area with the ability to hear other travelers in their rooms. I would not recommend a stay at this place unless you are able to tolerate the moldy conditions. It was right on the lake, but there was a wall without rails, and it would have been possible to miss the turn into the facility and to drive directly into Lake Superior. I would not recommend having small children here either as they could easily fall over the cement wall, which was less than 8 inches from the lawn, and for them to fall directly into the lake! There are many other places to stay in Munising. Be smart and choose another property! We won't be back! The cost was $185 plus tax per night which was a completely unrealistic amount to pay for these condition! Do yourself a favor........don't use this hotel!

We had a great stay. We were in a 3bedroom house that the motel owned. It was a nice surprise to have more room and not have our whole family in 1 room!
