Boston Marriott Newton

The staff at the front desk was getting yelled at by another customer so we didn’t get to see the best of the staff, they gave us our door cards and they didn’t work so my husband had to go back to the lobby and was given a hard time though we were just in front of them not more than 5 minutes prior. The shower gel smelled like a bad wood cleaning product. The only breakfast option is a limited Starbucks or a $70 per adult/ $25 child buffet option. Overall the stay was nice, just had some inconveniences.

The hotel was very conveniently located as we were in town for a family event in West Newton. The Hertz office on site was also extremely convenient and easy. Our room was fine, we had to change rooms because the first room had a clogged bathroom sink. The second room was fine but it had a badly stained toilet bowl. Housekeeping was a tad spotty. One day they didn’t finish the room and they also didn’t leave facial washcloths, we had to request them. Breakfast downstairs was fine. I would stay here again if I needed to be in West Newton.

The rate was reasonable, and the facilities looked ok at first glance. Experience was disorganized and disappointing. Food was just OK and overpriced, there were cobwebs all over the corners of our room (we took photos), no info provided in the room (local attractions, hotel info, hotel restaurant/room service menu etc). The front desk was confused about food delivery and called us to the front desk to pickup our order which then arrived at our room. We were staying local to Boston with my medically fragile child for treatment- one of the few things he’s allowed to do is swimming. We called before booking to verify pool access, called ahead of the trip to verify the pool would be open during our stay, and called to the front desk at arrival for the hours (we were told open until 9). Imagine our surprise and then tears etc when we walked to the pool to find it closed for maintenance). These trips to Boston are a trauma experience for my son. We do everything in our power to build positive experiences into these trips to limit the negativity. The sole reason we booked this hotel was for the pool, and we had to do fairly substantial processing and damage control as a result of the closure. Indoor swimming may not be a big deal to a lot of people, but to my son it’s everything right now. It was exceptionally disappointing, particularly since we had done several levels of confirmation checks about the pool facility (including from the front desk itself when we checked in).

Great location and great for families

Good comfortable stay as expected. Breakfast buffet was decent - had it once. The starbucks in the lobby, open in the mornings, is convenient. Got lucky with an upgrade which was very appreciative. The grounds on the river are peaceful. Didn't use the pool as it was crowded with kids, twice when i checked. Staff are cooperative and friendly. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Would not stay there again. Not close to anything. Most importantly got stuck in the elevator with my family for about 20 minutes the fire department was called.

The room and facility were clean, modern, and comfortable but the staff were not always the most friendly and there was a wedding reception in a tent right outside our room so it was very loud while my kid was trying to go to sleep

Such great customer service. Love the friendly and thoughtful housekeeping staff. We stayed here times last year to visit local family. Always a great experience. Location is great, freeway access on one side, small town neighborhood and downtown on the other side.
