The Pontchartrain Hotel

Truly loved our stay at Pontchartrain Hotel--beautifully historic with fresh, updated decor. I loved the medicine cabinet display and great toiletries in the bathroom, the cute twin beds in a separate room in the family suite, and all the details, down to the Ashley Longshore coffee table book and Scout Guide on the desk, and the real key they gave us at check in--it all provided for a great experience. We loved the live jazz playing in the Bayou Bar when we arrived for check in, the great coffee and chocolate croissants in the Silver Whistle for breakfast, and, of course, the painting of Lil Wayne in the Jack Rose. The valet were very friendly and helpful, even helped my husband bring our bikes up the elevator (we aren't light packers) and check-in was smooth, too. We can't wait to return!

Nice location. Had to ask for maid service each day. 1 day left our dirty coffee cups without replacing them for new ones. A little old and dingy and a bit dirty. Jr. suite nice setup for a family.

Absolutely loved this hotel, wish we had been able to stay longer. Beautiful, traditional style building. All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful right from the start. If you want a big chain hotel this is not for you. If you want great personal service then stay here. Myself and 2 grown up kids stayed in the family suite which was perfect - a twin bed room for them which could be closed off from my room with king. TVs in both bedrooms. Full air conditioning. Great bathroom with bath and shower. Suite fully serviced every day unlike the chain we had previously stayed at on Canal Street. Great breakfast in the cafe. Unfortunately we did not get to experience the roof top bar as a private event was on (if we had known in advance we would have gone earlier in the day). Slightly further out of the centre but streetcar stops almost right outside. Good places to eat within walking distance. We were approached for money more than once but that also happened in the French Quarter so no different.
