Hotel Del Sol

Clearly and older motel that has been updated and has lots of charm. Our room was very clean and comfortable, no refrigerator or microwave though. The kids enjoyed the pool, the staff even brought out a few balls they’d found for the kids to play with. The hotels colors are vibrant with cute door placards. The breakfast was a bunch of pastries and yogurt, if you have picky eaters there’s not much (bagels, toast, croissants, bran muffins, etc). We wound up eating in one day and out 2 other days. You take the breakfast back to your room or to the common space outdoors. I actually feel like when I booked this hotel there was little to no parking fee which is why I chose it. I was surprised to get a $40 per night parking bill with a bunch of taxes and fees. This was not discussed at check in. Between the parking and tourism fees we wound up with a $205 bill I wasn’t expecting. Pay close attention to that at booking, maybe even screenshot it. I wish I had. All in all a great family hotel, we would stay again!

This was a last minute booking due a family member at UCSF medical center and I’m so grateful to have found this. We had been staying at a Marriot in a rougher section of the city previously and their prices tripled (on a Monday night?) so I was searching for alternatives. Not only was the bed in my room at Del Sol a million times more comfortable (rivaled my own at home), the staff was so kind, and the area was so much cleaner and safer. 100% plan to stay again hopefully under better circumstances

Very family friendly. My kids were able to get into the pool twice (wasn’t heated but hopefully will be at our next visit). We loved how safe & secluded it felt for being in the city. We only had one TV channel tho and couldn’t figure out how to stream apps but it worked out since we weren’t always in the room.

It was a great place to stay with my family. Very nice area, very convenient and the staff was really nice. Totally recommended.

Breakfast is excellent and variated! Very good pastries and fruits everyday Cookies juice and coffee and hot chocolate in the afternoon… perfect with kids! Nice spot to explore by walking, buses or car! I would definitely return there if necessary!

We were incredibly disappointed with this place. Our tiny motel room had a very old and uncomfortable bed, I tried throughout the night to find a good position to sleep in but with no luck. There are bright lights from the outside of the room shining in with no curtains to block the light. My children didn't sleep well because of the very bright room. While checking in, after paying for everything, we were told construction would start at 6:30 am! It actually started at 6am with hammering and men yelling right outside our door. I have no idea why they would do this to their hotel guests, why not start at a later time? The construction made parking very difficult. We had a hard time exiting the motel because there was construction material blocking our car and a cement truck blocking the exit for the entire day. We had to wait at the entrance for the manager to let us out. The pool area is covered in construction dust and feels like you're in the way of the crew when you try to use the amenities you paid for. When I brought up these issues they said "Ok" and nothing else. We didn't stay for the 2nd night we paid for because it was such a terrible experience.

We were excited for our stay here after reviewing the photos of the property online. However when we arrived we realized that these photos told an edited story (or a story that is years old). I'll begin with the outside... The courtyard was under construction - that's fine, they need to do upgrades. However, it made maneuvering into and out of courtyard parking spots very difficult. We had to actually move construction materials just to get our vehicle out of its spot. The pool needs to be re-lined as it is quite dirty. The stairs and outdoor "hallways" are carpeted and in a wet city like San Francisco it left them in a state of smelling constantly wet. Now for the rooms. The photos of these are obviously staged as the decor is actually very sparse - not really that big of a deal, just don't expect what you see online. The room smelled of mildew, the carpet seemed wet and we found mold on the window in the bathroom. This really aggravated my families allergies and while we travel with an air purifier we couldn't get the room air to feel comfortable. We stayed in a room on the second floor and there were multiple soft spots in the floor where it feels like the flooring under the carpet is rotting..... The staff that we did interact with was very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is great, walkable with shopping and restaurants and conveniently located behind the Marina District.

My family and I stayed at the Hotel del Sol in early April. The vibe was very fun. Parking was easy and the neighborhood felt very safe. It was a short walk to Chestnut Street for dining and shopping. It was also a very reasonable walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Breakfast was fine. It wasn't a hot breakfast but lots of options and we could sit out by the pool. Speaking of the pool, it's not very big but there were pool toys and the kids had lots of fun.

We stayed in a family suite room. It's an excellent choice for families. There is a second bedroom with a door with a trundle bed that can sleep two kids comfortably. Staff were kind, there was always hot coffee tea and warm cookies in the reception. Best way to describe the pool was not cold, our kids enjoyed it but be ready to wrap them in towels afterwards. But that's San Francisco for you. Would definitely go back.

I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Del Sol. My family and i felt safe and commfortable. They accommodated a parking space for us when we had a late check in. It was a very cute little hotel and i would definitely stay there again. The only thing i wish they had in the rooms was a mini fridge for our drinks and food but other than that it was a great stay!
