Comfort Inn Carmel By The Sea

The walls were paper thin. My room was next to their laundry, and about 7:30 am. It was so noisy the walls were actually shaking. I could hear the person in the adjacent room snoring. The ceiling shook from the kids in the family in the room above me. You get what you pay for.

The location of this property cannot be beat. There are so many great restaurants and shops all within walking distance of the hotel. We were able to park our car at the hotel and walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parking was tight but we were able to find spaces relatively easy considering demand. The rooms are small but updated and comfortable. The covered patio tables and chairs in front courtyard were nice to have and allowed us to play cards with our friends. Unfortunately, the tables are also a place where guests congregate at night to drink and socialize—my husband had to get up at midnight to ask guests to quiet down. There is no air-conditioning which usually is not necessary in cool Carmel, but the rooms can get stuffy even in mild temps. Fortunately, the windows open and the hotel provides floor fans (though ours was not working properly). Ceiling fans would be a nice addition to the rooms so that we don't have to leave our windows open at night. Be aware that the noise level at the property is loud due to thin walls, close proximity to other rooms and open windows for ventilation. Every step, guest phone call on the balcony, kids running up and down, and toilet flush can be heard from inside your room. If you are someone who wants to sleep in or needs peace and quiet, this is not the property for you. Despite the noise levels, I would stay here again for the location, charm and reasonable room rates.

Did a quick 1-night with family. Clean, comfortable and very convenient location to all the shops and restaurants. Love the easy breakfast for the kids and Nescafe machine for an anytime espresso for me!
