Stayed for one night but was good. Room spacious, was a family room, big double comfy bed plus folding settee bed. Only change would be addition of curtain at small window, as only had vertical blind and this let in early morning-light. Breakfast was good, friendly, helpful staff, good selection fruit, cereals and cooked food. Had the full Scottish which set me up for the rest of the day.

As a large family this was our second stay at the City and between us we have spent thousands on our visit to the hotel. Check in was very busy and I found the receptionist to be quite in-person able. We paid for what was described as an executive room but couldn't begin to imagine what a lower grade room would be like. One would normally expect basics like glasses or at least plastic cups but nothing of the sort. Most hotels we've stayed at provide small soaps but again nothing more than a single dispenser in the shower. We went down to the mostly empty restaurant around 17.15 and said we just wanted a light snack. We were advised that this was a restaurant but if we wanted snacks we could purchase a crisps from the bar. We chose to agree to a meal in the restaurant and was then advised that it would be twenty minutes before they could take our order. We left in disgust meeting the receptionist on way explaining our dissatisfaction who rather than try to help simply said "they must be busy". One of their many rules is No food allowed in rooms! First rule broken! Thank goodness for Greggs! More rules, family gathering in reception area prior to going out to a wedding reception. They had drinks in hand and were abruptly told to leave the area as it wasn't permitted. They moved across into the bar area and were quickly approached by staff telling them they weren't permitted to stand and must be seated. I could go on. My family will not return. Worse than being at school.

Such a nice traditional place to stay. All staff, including those in the restaurant, were extremely professional and friendly. Spectacular location and terrific value. We had a large family group with 3 rooms. Our granddaughters loved being so close to the Glen and the Abbey. Would definitely stay there again!

Within 24hrs of booking, I was advised our event had been moved from the Friday to the Saturday. Contacted hotel and they were really helpful in moving the booking for me. I had expected to pay a supplement since we'd moved to the Saturday night. But didn't get a response regarding this in correspondence or call with the hotel. I had thought perhaps it was the same price for a Fri and Sat until we checked in. At this point they confirmed there was a charge. Thankfully it was only £10. I had no issues paying this and am grateful the date was moved. Staff were all friendly, hotel was clean. Room was small but adequate. Decor looked new and room was very clean. I tend to judge a hotel on their bathroom. The bathroom was small but lovely decor, clean and bright. Good quality shower. The bed was amazing! I struggle to sleep in unfamiliar settings but slept great here. Breakfast was included. Usual cereals, toast, fruit or a selection of hot items. Fruit drinks, coffee, water and milk all available. I didn't see tea this may have been on the menu. The location is great. Just off the high street. 10min walk to Carnegie hall where event was held. Alhambra close by too. Small hotel car park maybe 4-6 spaces. There was a larger pay to park car park just behind the hotel. £4 paid for 3pm Sat to just after 10am Mon. Sunday being free to park. It would likely cost more Mon-Sat. All in all, the stay was pleasant and I'd happily recommend the hotel to friends and family.
