The Balcomie Links Hotel is a wonderful and cozy place to stay for your time spent in East Neuk/Crail/Fife. We’ve never felt more at home in a hotel than we did at the Balcomie Links Hotel. The owners—Mike and Debbie—create an atmosphere of family and warmth. Debbie’s exquisite cooking is Scotland’s best kept secret, while Mike does a mean pour of the pint. Understand that the entirety of Crail has poor reception no matter where you go, so the WiFi and cable TV at ANY of the hotels requires acceptance and patience. Fear not but go goodly into the relaxation of unplugging for a bit. Unless you bring along your own hotspot, Crail itself—a peninsula that juts out into the North Sea—is left wanting for signal including mobile phones. That’s just fine. With gorgeous ocean views and hosts that bend over backwards to make their guests feel welcomed with camaraderie, it’s a great place to head on down to their fabulous restaurant, bar, and sizable game room replete with a pool table, darts, Sky TV, and easy-to-laughter locals that embody the Crail spirit of hard working, fun loving people. We’ve now been guests of the Balcomie on multiple visits and would recommend it to anyone. We miss Debbie.
