Fairmont St Andrews

The perfect place for a short stay - lots of families so not the place for a lie in but didn’t cause me any issues!

Nice hotel friendly staff family room was a good size. I do have to mention the breakfast which is without doubt the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel.

Initial impressions were good. Very attentive staff on check in and nice lounge area and fire when entering hotel. The open plan area on the ground floor seem poorly though out and a waste of space and colour scheme is mismatched and industrial. Poor choice of restaurants- only one in main hotel with other at the golf clubhouse. No fine dining. Had dinner at La Cuchina which was nice enough and staff were attentive. Had a disappointing visit to the spa. Ignored by staff and no one to explain the amenities. One of the poolside showers was burning hot- dangerous as lots of children about. Whole area was lacking in cleanliness and generally not what I would expect of a 5* hotel. Wouldn't return or recommend to others looking for a bit of luxury. Ok for a family break if you get a deal.

The room could have been cleaner and better stocked with tea bags anb sugar. This apart was a great break and the breakfeast was superb. Swimming pool was excellent for the kids, very enjoyable stay.
