The Churchill Hotel

It was expensive for what is was, the room was so hot like a sauna. Not much air flow, we had to keep the door open and use a fan. The room was cool but just too hot. Booked for a family of three had to pay an extra for a bed, which i think should been included and parking is quiet expensive. Breakfast was ok again expensive for what it is.

My family and I booked several rooms at The Churchill. Unfortunately, all the rooms had thing s wrong in them to one degree, or another. 'Number 141, 'Churchill's Bunker Room' is damp and very foisty, smelling with no fresh air ventilation, just an extractor fan for the shower (not a nice place to sleep, so I can't recommend) Room 124 is located in the roof space, so has no normal windows and is very hot. However, it does have a Velux, electrical opening roof window with integral blind. The room also has a small non adjustable air conditioning unit, that is okay if you sleep directly underneath it, but it is set so low that it doesn't do much for the rest of the room. The worst ting about the room though, is the bad smell coming from the drains, that hits you straight away as you open the door of the room for the first time. Pewwww! What a stink! That, really does need sorting out. Room 115 was okay, but very warm, with just an old top opening box sash window for ventilation. The Churchill should have air conditioning in all the rooms, not just the ones in the roof space, when you consider the prices they're charging. I wouldn't stay there again.

Not as good as on previous visit. Modern refurbishment has taken away the character of the place. Stayed in family sized room which was very small for a family. Food choice was very limited and over priced. As property is in it's own grounds, I felt it was unfair to charge £15 per night for parking
