Great place to stay for my family and guests as part of my wedding event taking place at the venue. The only issue we came across was that the elevator in the building we stayed was broken down so we had to carry all our luggage up the stairs. Not a big deal but would have been amazing if the lift was working. Nothing else but positives for this place.

I was staying to attend a family event. Requested early Check in which staff confirmed was received but because they didn’t have time to approve it we were charged £30. We had an early checkout and wouldn’t be having breakfast. Staff refused to put monies prepaid for breakfast against an evening meal. For such an expensive hotel, I don’t feel we had value for money. Our room window wouldn’t stay open without a prop and the wallpaper was ripped in places. Overall disappointed and won’t stay again.

Helpful staff, great room service, as me and my girlfriend just wanted a night away from the kids to chill out in an air conditioned room and enjoy treating ourselves to room service, and it met all our expectations and more!! We will be back !!

We booked 2 rooms as we were attending a family wedding nearby. Our room (12a) was dark with a small window, but the bed was comfortable. After unpacking we went out so didn’t notice the issues to come. We got back late & went to bed. It’s an old building so the windows can’t be opened which is understandable. Halfway through the night woke up very hot as the aircon had failed. The rest of the night was restless as the aircon kept failing with a fault code so the room was hot and stuffy. Also behind the headboard there was an intermittent knocking throughout the night with different levels of noise & duration. As my wife is a very light sleeper this interrupted her sleep. In the morning reported it to reception & was told it would be looked. Later we returned to the room & noticed that the noise was still there & the aircon failed with a fault code. We rang reception & the Duty Manager came & we moved rooms. The DM was very apologetic, I appreciate that things can go wrong but its how it is dealt with that counts. I was very disappointed when the DM said that it was noisy pipes & a plumber was due tomorrow & that it had been like it for a couple of weeks & there had been complaints! So they had complaints & it had been like it for a couple of weeks, & they still thought it was ok to put us in the room? That is disappointing & we should never have been put in that position. Overall it was ok, not the best but not the worst. Would I recommend / return to Orsett Hall? No

Considering how amazing the grounds are the same is not to be said for the rooms. My husband and I were attending a wedding at the grounds over the weekend and booked a 2 night stay. Compared to all the other rooms our families were in, ours were substandard. The bathtub was blocked, pretty quickly fixed but a bit annoying. The fire alarm went off at 1/2am in the morning for quite some time. The bed was far from comfortable, a very bad sleep which ended with a bad back. There were easier ways to get to our room which we were not told about meant walking for about 10 minutes with a lot of luggage also finding a short cut to the car park was at the end of the stay. I am 100% sure, headphones were also left in the room but were convenitaly not found, my fault for leaving them but still were fairly expensive. Overall I would not recommend staying especially for the price we paid of nearly £300.
