We were visiting family in the area and we had stayed at this quirky hotel on other occasions and found it to be fine. It’s easy to find. If you have a dog with you, you are usually allocated a courtyard room. These are simple but comfortable rooms with their doors opening to where you park your car- right outside. Very handy! Door secured by a chain. We have always found the rooms to be clean. The beds singles) were comfortable. There is (unbranded) tea and coffee, and UHT semi skimmed milk cartons provided daily. Plus a biscuit each. The bathroom is fairly old fashioned-a bath with a wall mounted, removable shower head. A toilet without soft close seat, but flushes well. There is an extractor fan. And a great heated towel rail. Our only complaint is that the hot water is scalding. No matter what we did with the temperature controls it was too hot to stand under. It could be dangerous if you are either very young, or old. We told the person on reception. TV -no channels unless you signed in to free view on your mobile phone/iPad. Might be difficult if you don’t have one. Fantastic view over a field out of the window, and the wildlife nearby is wonderful. Pheasants, and 4 gorgeous roe dear this morning. We saw a heron last time! Cooked Breakfast in the hotel is made to order and is wonderful! We also had dinner on one night and the food was really good. We would definitely stay again.

Have stayed at the Honest Lawyer several times as it’s convenient for visiting family. The furnishing are lovely, the bed and linen are clean and comfy. However, the bathroom could do with some TLC. We will stay again.

Me & my daughter usually stay at this hotel as it’s convenient when visiting family. The staff are very friendly & welcoming & check in is easy. We had one of the outside rooms & when we walked in, it was warm & cosy, but also clean. The tv worked great & good tea/coffee making facilities. I’ve got to say the beds were really comfy & we had the best nights sleep, it probably helped that we had a room away from the busy road & overlooking the fields at the back.

The hotel was convenient for visiting our family who live locally, and was dog friendly. A very important part of why we chose to stay here. The room allocated was great. Small but very clean and it had everything we wanted. There was a super view over fields at the back, where we saw heron and pheasants. My only quibble was that some staff gathered outside our room to smoke on their breaks. There were lots of cigarette ends on the floor, too. I suffer with a bad chest when exposed to smoke so I wasn’t happy about this and asked them to move. It was an awkward moment. Perhaps the employer can provide a shelter for staff who smoke to visit during their breaks? Our stay was lovely and the food was great, but it was rather spoiled for me by this incident.

This is our second stay here this year, our first stay was ok, didn’t have food in restaurant as we were out with family in the city. However this time we opted for breakfast on Saturday morning, there was no prices on the menu for food or the cost of breakfast, website also doesn’t display prices. Only prices on display was for the coffee. We opted for 2 bacon rolls, 1 with a hash brown & 2 coffees, lady came to us informed us we had to pay separately as wasn’t included in the room cost of £150 for the 2 nights. £25 for 2 bacon baps & 2 coffees seemed a little high in my opinion. However on the Saturday evening after a long day in the sunshine they did supply us with 2 plates for a takeaway we had ordered as the restaurant was due to close within 15 minutes of our return. Would likely return again due to proximity of family.
