Castle Green Hotel In Kendal, BW Premier Collection

We had a wonderful time! The hotel is in a great location, a short drive into Kendal town centre. The gardens are lovely although it was a bit rainy so we didnt get to roam much! Check in was quick as we could do it online, reception team were lovely (the kids appreciated their activity packs!) Our room was clean and modern, comfy beds and beautiful bathroom. Also, we we were in the quiet area which was perfect. The pool was clean and warm, kids swim times which meant that we didnt feel as though we were disturbing the other swimmers. The gym is also well equipt and air conditioned. The bar area was good, the kids enjoyed their free lemonade! Breakfast was what you would expect, plenty of choice and the cooked breakfast was fresh. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The accomodation was great but it was the little touches from the team that made the hotel stand out. We look forward to returning!

Visiting family in Kendal so a good convenient place to sray

We had a family suite for 2 adults and 2 children. The room was a great size with fantastic views of the fro t gardens. We were impressed by the friendliness of the staff. In the evening housekeeping would come to replenish any room amenities ie tea coffe biscuits or bathroom supplies. The staff in the restaurant were very attentive. Would recommend a stay here if visiti ng the lakes

Great location in a very nice hotel. Rooms were excellent no complaints. However would have been nice to have been told there was a large function in the form of a local school prom being held during our stay. The kids were lovely I cpuld see it was a well planned event, but because of the large event, the pub had no food available and other limited service during our stay which was unfortunate Booking through Hotels com was very poor though, I would recommend booking direct or through another provider .

Well overall I wouldn’t rate this as a 4* star hotel. It was more like a 2-3*. Not many facilities available such as a spa only a swimming pool. Initially we had problems with our room on arrival due to a strong gutter smell. However, when we told the reception they changed the room for us quickly - but it was disruptive as we had only just arrived and travelled from afar. The lift was broken and was never fixed during our stay. I’m glad I didn’t bring a family member who has walking difficulty otherwise this would have been very problematic. Our second room was average there was a smell again but better than the first room, there were stains on the carpet. On our arrival we were told the swimming pool opening times but weren’t told it was closed due to the bank holiday. So we were turned away from this facility. Breakfast was average we asked for veg sausages and these arrived burnt. We didn’t get any more after this. I don’t think I will be staying in this hotel again but I honestly expected better from BW hotels as I stayed in one of their chain hotels in London and that was fantastic! We were quite disappointed with this one. But can’t fault the staff or actual service.
