Tufton Arms Hotel

Everywhere heavily booked so took the gamble of trying a pub hotel. Unfortunately for a parent with young child this was just too grim a room to return to in evenings for a week's stay. Bit like an old-fashioned railway waiting room with icky wallpaper and headboard and tatty/torn cushions. We found the bed too soft to sleep comforably and naturally from it's location there was noise outside. Very depressing. However the bathroom was very clean. Also it has a central location and a nice restaurant downstairs serving a very good choice at breakfast. Couple of hikers staying a night and drinking/eating downstairs in the evening may well give this place a good star rating. But didn't work for us for a family holiday.
