We enjoyed our 2-night family stay at The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate in August. We were greeted on arrival by a very welcoming member of staff. Swimming pool and spa facilities were great. Only area improvement is the size of the TV in the room opposite the bed, which was miniscule for the size of the room and distance away from the bed - time for some upgrades?

Beautiful rooms and hotel overall. Seemed very understaffed which led to a worne out yet business like/ brisk attitude of reception staff. They did not demonstrait any interest in me our my stay.....just delivered information without a smile or friendly service both at arrival or departure. Wait staff were very obviously run off their feet....took 45 mins to get 1st course.. and the staff kept having to apologise for delays both at lunch and again at dinner and unavailabilityof items on menu.Kitchen needs an upgrade of staff......i was served a ' green curry' which clearly had food colouring added!!!!???? And menue seemed very boring ....especially when reflected on the choices of local fish etc we got offered in next 2 hotels. Only a lift to one floor and then 2 sets of stairs to negotiate.....which at 66 yrs old and with mobility issues was difficult.....perhaps improve the lifts to all floors or have a concierge available. Time to ask why staff so unhappy in their jobs!!! I would return and recommend to both overseas and local family and friends, if these improvements were evident, as rooms were luxurious and wonderful beds and pillows which are so important for longhaul overseas travellers. .

Parking a bit of an issue as my older auntie struggles to walk far - plenty of spaces but not close to the entrance Food at breakfast was fresh and staff were attentive - Evening meal, not much choice we had fish and chips which seemed expensive .. would have preferred Cornish or lamb chops, near platter not fish specials Spa was average, quite a walk, grubby in places and no outdoor areas that you could sit just some uncomfy deckchairs. Missing a trick not having outside loungers and drink/snack service plus even a jacuzzi outside even at an additional charge Reception staff courteous and waiting staff albeit young very nice and pleasant Unlikely we would stay again but if you fancy a family lodge I would think this is a better option

The lodge was nice, and accommodated our family of 5 adequately. It was clean, and it was nice to have a dvd player with some good dvd’s. The wii would have been good, but one of the controllers batteries had gone flat. Our stay was slightly inconvenienced by the fact that we were disturbed on both nights by drunken guests at other lodges shouting and singing at midnight on the first night & 3am on the second night. The pool was nice and we took the children within ‘children’s hours’ but we still received a lot of dirty looks from other pool users, which was disappointing and made us feel uncomfortable. The restaurant was lovely. We throughly enjoy our meal and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious with a good choice on the menu. The team on the reception desk were friendly and kind when we asked if we could check out a few minutes after 10am so the boys could have an hour in the pool (no children before 9am) and get changed at the lodge after. We checked out at 10:10am. Overall, we felt there was a lack of attention to detail and personalisation with our stay, that we would expect from a hotel. Although the facilities were nice, in regards to the lodge we believe could have got a similar experience with an Airbnb (which would have been cheaper).

Short family break with young adult sons so facilities were appreciated and well used. The lodge was spacious and quite clean but it could do with some maintenance. The inside wall light was water stained, the shower didn’t drain properly and the paintwork was a bit grubby, so a general refresh would be good. We enjoyed the hot tub but it wasn’t very private.

Stay was comfortable and stress free considering we also took our 7 month old baby with us. We had to take our own travel cot since the hotel does not provide this but it worked out to be best as our baby prefer her own cot and surroundings when sleeping. There was plenty of space for it to our surprise with plenty of room around it. The only down side was that dinner did not have enough vegetarian options.
