Sugar Marina Resort - Cliffhanger

The Sugar Marina Resort Krabi is a newly built property located about 400 m from the beach. There are two buildings and reception is located in the back building after you woke up a very steep driveway. This driveway would be very difficult for elderly people or people with heavy luggage. The reception staff are lovely and friendly and the check in process was quick and smooth.  The rooms are a good size and are clean and modern. There is a safe, a small bar fridge, an LCD TV, a desk, ample cupboard space, an electric jug, bathrobes and thongs, bathrobes, umbrellas, and a hair dryer. There's a separate swimming pool for each building and each room has a balcony. There are plenty of power points for charging your devices. The beds are reasonably comfortable and there are 4 pillows. There is a separate shower and toilet however the shower pressure could be better as it is average at best. This hotel is located in a side street heading away from the beach and there is a family math at 7-Eleven and a number of restaurants and tour operators located along the street. I found my stay here pleasant and relaxing and would have no problem in recommending this property to others.

We had a very good time at Sugar Marina. 2 kid under 5 yo and my husband had a pleasant time, the housekeeping was good and the breakfast delicious with options for my little ones. When i booked the hotel charge me for an extra room (I book a double queen bedroom) and there was no space to put any extra bed. Anyway, we were comfortable with the space. The only problem was we had just two towels and we were four!!... when I asked for two more they just send 1. People at the restaurant VERY nice, friendly service. Congratulations! Surprisingly the "trainee" people were the most lovely people. Quick check in and check out, and perfefct timing with the airport taxi they booked for us. Just a little far from the main street and the beach, nothing that you couldn't walk or take a 100 baht tuktuk. My only tip: book an "upper pool access" room, or you could face the noisy street!!

The room we booked was for two adults and one child but on arrival we only had a double bed...it took a few hours of negotiating to get a spare single bed brought up, but we got there on the end. Clean, modern setting which was nice. However the building site next to the pool meant we spent our stay on the beach.

Hotels should be obliged to tell potential guests that there is another hotel being built alongside. The 12 hour a day banging was ridiculous, and on top of that the construction site overlooks the pool area and offers little privacy from workers on the site. The breakfast was disappointing after reading good reviews, the coffee was tasteless and the food was cold the heating plates were mostly unplugged. The pool access room did not have a pool ladder and guests from non pool access rooms were occupying the area, the children could not access the pool safely. No guard on the property in the evening. The bar was closed and breakfast was served in another building accessed by two elevators and stairs. On the plus side the beds were large and comfortable, the staff were few but pleasant.
