Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei

Just very nice location and family friendly. Perfect for young fams.

We stayed 8 nights at the Plaza King and had a wonderful experience. Excellent customer service from every level, especially the Horizon check-in service. My children and I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. They had a good variety of delicious things to eat. Lastl, we were also delighted there was a bus stop just outside of the hotel that takes you to the airport.

Stayed here during the 7.4 earthquake. Difficult to evaluate the hotel without that skewing the perspective. The good: the rooms were spacious, the hotel was quiet, it is a 10 minute walk to the nearest MRT, and around 15 minutes to Daan Park, could walk to Taipei 101 in roughly 30 minutes, several convenience stores and fast foods options nearby. The bad: I don't feel the hotel provided enough information to guests in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake. We received one letter telling us that there had been an earthquake - we knew!! - and that the rooftop pool was closed as it had been damaged. The earthquake hit on the Wednesday and we could still feel the building shaking when we left on the Saturday morning; so much so that my children requested to leave our room - on the 23rd floor - on the Friday night. There were more than 700 aftershocks following the earthquake and, in retrospect, I feel the hotel should have done more to inform us on what we should do and what we should expect in the aftermath, and to reassure us on the building's stability, given it is an older building, having been built in 1994.

We paid for an upgrade and got a beautiful suite. We had so much room and the kids were so happy to be able to move and play.

Nice location but yet the walls are too thin, can clearly hear babies crying from next door. 😓

Stayed here for 5 nights with family. This was our first visit to Taiwan. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The room was large and quiet. We can see the Taipei 101 from our window. Excellent dining options.

The food in the restaurants is not good. We went to the Chinese restaurant with 2 young children. The choices are limited and the taste is not as good as the other branches of the same brand in other places. The breakfast is OK only and is not value for money. The room has a spectacular city view, spacious, clean and modern.

My family had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Shangri-La, Taipei. My kids loved the rooftop pool and I loved that you could buy food/drinks up there:) Every single staff person we interacted with was amazing - so kind, helpful and happy. Breakfast buffet was incredible as were the other dining options. Taipei 101 is an enjoyable 30 minute walk or 5 minute taxi and there is never a problem getting a taxi - the concierge desk is always happy to help if there is not one immediately outside. Overall it was a really great stay!

We loved our stay at the Shangri-La Taipei! It was myself and three kids and they loved the pool and breakfast buffet specifically. The staff were amazing, especially one of the pool lifeguards - so nice! Easy 30 min walk to Taipei 101 to see that area and lots of resturants/convenience stores around the hotel. Would absolutely recommend a stay here.
