Hotel - Steakhouse Cheminée

Our family was staying in Zermatt for 2 nights to trek the Matterhorn. Great location, very short walk to the stations and centre of town. Good size room for a family and a balcony with views of the mountain. What more do you want.

For starters, be aware this place has no elevator. Lugging suitcases and climbing stairs after a day of skiing can be rough. But if you're OK with that, this is definitely an incredible place to stay. The rates are competitive. The location is perfect, directly across from a ski lift and next to rental places. The building is clean with great charm. Food at the restaurant is tasty. The place is family run and everyone there is incredibly helpful. The mattress was thin but I was tired enough to sleep well. If I return to Zermatt, I will probably stay here again. (photo is from my balcony)

We stayed at Cheminée for 5 nights while attending the ski school. What I love most about this hotel was that it was a true family business, which you rarely see in most US hotels. The breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced. The rooms were clean and spacious enough, and the convenience of being in front of the station was amazing.

We stayed last year and again this year with our children and grand children and found all to be very comfortable.

We enjoyed our time at Hotel Cheminée and in Zermatt. The hotel is at a central location, affordable for a family with young children, clean, well equipped and beautiful in its design and architecture. We enjoyed our bedroom with balcony, the beautiful view of the Matterhorn from the room's balcony and the excellent breakfast on the morning. We were completely content with the hotel, its owner and its staff as well as its service.

I booked a family room for four people. When we checked in the sofabed was not made up. There were only two bath towels and two pillows. We had to ask for the linen and made our own beds which is appalling considering the price tag. Breakfast was mediocre. The location is good and convenient as the lifts are within walking distance.
