Hotel Garni Matterhorn Focus AG

The Matterhorn suite has a unique view of Matterhorn. It frames the Matterhorn in the cable car ring. We saw the Golden Matterhorn right at the balcony of our room. The hotel is right next to the cable car of Glacier Paradise. Overall a very satisfying experience for me and my family.

Zermatt is a unique place among Alpine resorts (no cars) and the Matterhorn Focus is a unique hotel in Zermatt. Partially built underground so as not to break the town height limits, the hotel stands out from the the run-of-the-mill Swiss chalet type hotels found in the resort. We stayed in the Focus Suite which not only had an amazing layout and furniture (all made from the same place in town) but also had breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. The suite was super well equipped. The breakfast was awesome and the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly (not always the case in this part of Switzerland). The only issue we had was with the kid's room getting too hot at night but the staff worked hard on fixing the issue. Having a fridge in the suites would be nice as well.

We stayed at this hotel with our 2 8 year old kids. The hotel is very nicely presented with a nice modern mountain style. The room was comfortably big enough for the 4 of us and the TV and wireless etc worked well. The hotel is right up at the top of the town which means you get great views of the Matterhorn if the weather is reasonably clear. It also means you are about 20m from the lift station to Furi (and onward up the mountains) which is very convenient, especially for skiers. But don't worry, the noise from the lifts is almost imperceptible. There is no dinner available at the hotel but the breakfast is well done, and there are restaurants close by with pretty much everything in Zermatt within a pleasant 15 minute walk.
