Alpine Hotel Wengen (former Sunstar Wengen)

Alpine Hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, and speak good English. The breakfast is an excellent buffet, augmented by Prosecco and smoked salmon on the Sunday morning we were there. The indoor pool is 17x8 mètres and very few people used it during our stay; a great way to exercise. They block off 2 hours in the afternoon for children the other sessions are mostly adults only The hotel’s situation in the very center of Wengen is really good for going shopping. If it is hot, ask reception for a fan, and ask the room staff to leave the curtains closed when they make up the bed in the morning. Otherwise the rooms can get very hot in the afternoon sun. You also need to ask réception for the key to the old style safe box in the room, it isn’t given as a matter of course. We did not try the restaurant for an evening meal, nor the bar, because there were better choices in the local area. Overall definitely a strong recommendation and we would go back there.

When you arrive with heavy bags for your vacation, you are looking for a place closer to the train station, not on a slope, and still accessible to shopping. Alpine Wengen fulfills all those needs. And as a bonus, the minute you step out into your balcony, amazing scenery opens up right in front of you, the majestic mountains, children playing in the playground across from the hotel, cows grazing in meadows!

Great location and good for families with an indoor pool. Has a sauna and steam bath. Nice views from all rooms and a good breakfast. Very helpful staff

Hotel is family friendly and just a minute walk from the Wengen train station. Staff was really polite and helpful. Room was superb.
