THB Tropical Island Aparthotel

Hotels.com/expedia didn’t send my reservation over to the hotel so when I arrived there was no reservation for me. I had to pay again and sort this mess out myself in the middle of the night on arrival with 2 small children. Thankfully the hotel had a room. I then wasted all of the following morning on the phone still trying to sort it out. Absolutely disgusting.

It had such potential but the water was so cold it was very hard to enjoy it especially with a young child. The food was very disappointing. The kids club was very good but so much more could be done with it. The playground area could do with updating and a couple of more items added to it. The staff were very nice and friendly and facility was clean however there was never toilet paper in the toilets by the main pool, this was very annoying.

Great hotel for families. We had an amazing time. Loads of activities and very close to town.

It is what it is. If you can get it cheap enough, you can use it as a base to visit the beach, Playa Blanca and the island. It's well located, near good things, without being great itself. The restaurants are congested and badly organised but the food is ok. There is no adult evening entertainment so you go to say Princesa Yaiza hotel or into Playa Blanca. This is where Tropical Island falls down badly. There is a basic sports bar which is friendly and clean, and a dome which always sounds like a right noisy racket but seems popular with young children so this is perhaps a good hotel for young families.

This hotel in my opinion has 3 stars. If you wish to have 4 stars experience better book 5 stars hotel in Lanzarote. The hotel is family friendly, lots of different areas to entertain the children, staff are very helpful. Rooms clean and average, missing iron. Make sure you book pool view and maybe ground floor, 1st floor is great as well. Some rooms are outdated and with issues. Make sure you have cash with you for swimming pool towels. Small groceries shop located within the hotel, games area with all you need for self catering stay. Restaurant too small for the property capacity and located underground, not much natural light, windows view : stones. Food is ok and fresh, cannot say I was impressed with the selections. Depends on each person taste. Pools, cold water not heated, maybe it is better during summer time. Entertainment fun for kids. Location : 15min walking to beach I would suggest renting a car if you are traveling with kids, too hot for them to walk. Overall I would recommend for families with limited budget looking for some sun and fun for kids.

When you are initially booking this property don’t be fooled by the pictures of the apartment interior. and apparent 4star rating. The apartment was very old, and definitely in need of some urgent TLC and a bigger TV - nothing like the pictures. The shower screen is a health and safety hazard along with the furniture and the toilet had a slow leak which had a foul odour coming up throughout our stay. I tried to have us moved straight away but sadly being the Easter bank holiday, there was no availability! I would have been much happier to pay extra just to get out of there. But the kids were so tired that in the end we decided to just get on with it. The exterior of the property and surrounding gardens & swimming pools however are quite lovely and clean. There is enough space and activities for everyone alike to enjoy. Such a shame about the apartment.

Great installations especially for kids

We had a good stay at the Tropical island - however very basic. The start with, the hotel is incredibly clean and the cleaners do a fantastic job daily. The facilities (incl. pools, activities, splash park etc) were great for the kids. However, the food at breakfast and evenings was poor - always just luke warm and not of great quality. The other restaurants out with the buffet were not open during our stay which we were not informed. We stayed in February which is considered a quiet time for them and the queue for check-in took ages to get through. There were also a number of things (access keys/towels/poolside drinks) that we required cash for and were also not informed of, which was incredibly inconvenient given we do not like to travel with cash. All in all, we had a pleasant stay and the kids enjoyed it but I wouldn’t necessarily return.

Very cold and tired apartments. Moisture and mould in the room. Very average AI food. It is not a 4-star hotel. The heated pools are not warm. The animation is only for French people or children.
