Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel & Serviced Residences

Best hotel stay...ever! My family and I loved it at the Sofitel Ambassador Seoul. They have a great breakfast buffet, and the service was impeccable. The only small suggestion I would have is to direct guests to the other elevators that go to the lobby; there was often a wait for the 2 elevators to the lobby from the concierge area. Luckily, we found the other bank of elevators on the first night. The hotel is right next to the Lotte mall which was convenient as we packed lightly and bought a couple of outfits while in Seoul. And Sokchon Lake across the street was a beautiful sight, especially during our stay when the cherry blossoms bloomed. All in all, a great hotel which we would be happy to stay at again.

We stayed for 5 nights with a child. The hotel is clean and new. Staff service was ok except for the torturously slow check in. Beautiful interiors but the design was more for aesthetics than with actual use in mind (eg no shelf space in the closet - just 4 very shallow drawers (could place 1 scarf in each) and a small compartment for clothes hanging). It is not child friendly. We paid for a suite with club access but because our child was not welcomed we never stepped foot into it. Location is not convenient unless you plan to spend most of your time in Lotte World because you need to cross the river for many attractions and restaurants.

New mordern hotel, very clean and great rooms! BUT the elevators are so time consuming and annoying! However it seems like the hotel is aware and ensure staff at the elevators during the day to help lighten the elevator traffic jam. The pool area was probably the biggest disappointment. It is one big daycare center/ childrens playground with at least 30 screaming kids spread all over the pool area. Since you have to pre book a time lot to use the pool, we expected a less crowded time at the pool. However, it was a nightmare and we left after 15min - we asked the staff for a time lot where kids were not allowed, but unfortunately that’s not available. Stay far away from the pool area, the breakfast buffet and the elevator area - so noisy and crowded. On the other hand, the rooms are spacious and so quiet. We loved the room, but no plan of returning to Sofitel in Jamsil. Simply too expensive for the daily elevator traffic jam and the amount of children in the hotel. If you have kids, you might be able to enjoy it more.

All the staff members were very friendly and professional. Room condition and bedding were superb. Breakfast was very diverse with a wide range of hot dishes, fruits, bakery etc. One major downside : you need to reserve/book the swimming pool time in advance, and moreover, each slot is only 70 minutes. Very disappointing considering you're only allowed 1 slot per day. 70 minutes is definitely not enough to give a playful time to the kids. It would be somewhat understandable if it's during the peak season weekend, but not on weekdays booking with only a handful of people using the pool.
