Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel

Wonderful hotel. Highly recommend to friends and family.

It’s sitting in the middle of the city, easy to walk around. But the hallway and room full of 200 years old smell is not my cup of tea. No shower in washroom whilst bathtub sitting in the room.. which was not convenient for a family trip.

The property and location were wonderful. The biggest issue was security and safety. We are a family of 4 and 3 of us left at 4am for an early flight and one person would checkout a few hours later (we notified the front desk). About an hour after we left, an intruder entered the room where my daughter was still sleeping. My daughter pretended to be asleep and stirred around a bit but could see the person walking around the room. At one point they went to a different part of the room where she was able to grab a phone and an empty wine bottle to protect herself. She quickly set an alarm to go go off on her phone which finally got the person to leave. Needless to say she was terrified. I contacted the hotel via email as we were already on a plane home. I still have not heard anything. Thankfully my daughter was not assaulted but she is traumatized for sure. As a side note- as we left the hotel that morning we noticed another rooms door slightly ajar which was odd at 4am. I’m not sure if this hotel has other safety issues but it is concerning. Porto was great but can’t recommend this hotel based on our experience.
